Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) voted against the Senate’s comprehensive immigration reform bill last year, but on Wednesday he plans to “discuss the need for immigration reform.”

Mr. Paul will join former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Partnership for a New American Economy’s monthly series on immigration reform hosted by Grover Norquist.

A gay storm is gathering, lisping HILLARY!

I don’t see how it’s avoidable now. What a crop of losers we’ve got. Next will be President Barney Frank. Then President Michelle Obama!

If they do decided to “pass” amnesty, an amendment needs to be added to the bill making it a requirement that the illegals be given a union card PRIOR to being registered to vote DemocRAT. We shouldn’t be importing slave labor for BIG business.

The only type of reform I want to hear about is the reform where they actually enforce the existing laws!

If you’re talking about adjusting the numbers of who receives the prime visas, if you’re talking about taking a good look at the cumbersome process to come here legally, then yes, that’s immigration reform we ought to address. After the borders are secured. But no amnesty — ever. Didn’t the GOP get the message from VA-7 last night?

But then, Republicans have a virtually infinite capacity to learn the wrong lesson.

Our border is broken, we can’t have any reform until the border is fixed.

You know I like Rand Paul on almost evety subject except immigration. He’s going to end up talking himself right out of the nomination. I’m really only looking a Cruz and Perry as viable choices right now.

I been getting the impression that Rand has been going warm and fuzzy compassionate and ‘open minded’ because he thinks that it will convince GOP voters that he's electable.

I agree. Paul thinks he will pick up votes if he is pro immigration reform. IMO the problem is he will lose more votes from the GOP base than he will pick up from independents. The only caveat to that is that he does seem popular with the young people so maybe the immigration stance will be a winner for him. He might take the youth vote from Hillary or whoever the Dems run.

The Democrats aren’t happy with him, either: http://factivists.democrats.org/rand-paul-talks-out-of-both-sides-of-his-mouth-on-immigration/index.html

Funny, but didn’t he just get done telling us that Chamber of Commerce Republicans couldn’t win...and now, he is staking out the key position of the COC?

I see Perry's antics from time to time, you know on the ‘bring your business to Texas’ theme, and it looks to me that he will be a much better candidate in 2015/16 than he was in 2011.

He clearly wasn't ready back then but it looks like he's in training and building a record to brag about.

I got businesses to move to Texas and as POTUS I can do the same for this country”

Many here will be surprised by the change.

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...
