GOP consultant: Tea party complaints ‘racist and stupid’
Mississippi Business Journal ^ | 6/26/14 | Associated Press

National Republican leaders trying to appeal to non-white voters are cringing over Senate candidate Chris McDaniel’s complaints that Democrats — most of whom are black in Mississippi — voted in the state’s GOP Senate runoff and helped six-term incumbent Thad Cochran capture the party nomination.

“The more the tea party complains about how black voters vote for Republicans, I think they look racist and stupid,” said John Feehery, a GOP consultant in Washington. “We’re trying to get black voters. Now that one of our candidates got black voters, we should be happy about it.”...

When reporters in Washington asked Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., if Cochran’s appeal to Democratic voters might have a negative impact on the GOP, Wicker responded with a laugh.

“Broadening the base of the party? Asking more Mississippians to participate in the ballot that’s going to determine the next senator? No, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” he said....

This sh*thole is wrong, we’re pissed that the GOP used racist tactics in this race as well that they resorted to DEMOCRATS (no matter their race) to WIN; AT ALL COSTS! That’s what p*sses the grassroots off. I’d like to add that he’s a GRADE “A” “A-HOLE”!!

Any Republican “consultant” who complains about the possibility of a legitimate, conservative message being racist should be fired on the spot.

Who is Roger Wicker?

The junior senator from Mississippi, Wicker, 61, was first appointed by former Republican Gov. Haley Barbour to the U.S. Senate in December 2007 after the resignation of then-Sen. Trent Lott. He was then won a special election for the seat in 2008 and won re-election in 2012 to a second term.

“Feehery started his career as a speechwriter to former U.S. House Republican Leader Bob Michel.”

Was Feehery responsible for writing this gem for the less than inspiring Minority Leader Bob Michel.

“It’s one thing to be an ideological purist but that never gets any real significant adherents to the cause. That relegates you, in my judgment, to permanent minority status.”
Bob Michel Roll Call, March 23, 1987 -

Michel was an expert of being in a minority status without a doubt. You can even say he loved being in the minority with his go-along to get-along style of compromise(a.k.a. giving in to Dem demands).

Paraphrasing Homer Simpson:

“GOPe consultants. Is there anything they don’t know?”

No, the GOPe are just doing their job -- maintaining the PRETENSE that there is opposition to the socialist agenda, while ensuring that no ACTUAL opposition is allowed to happen.

That keeps getting more and more obvious.

These people cannot possibly be this stupid.

Oh, I dunno -- they seem utterly oblivious to the consequences of ticking off their own base.

The way he “got black votes” was strictly RACIST race-baiting,
pandering to their fears of something being taken away that they currently have, be it SNAP or whatever,
and lying that the TP candidate would deny them the right to vote.

You gotta wonder - do they really believe that “True the Vote” wants to outright deny them the vote, or do they believe that they are entitled to commit the kind of vote fraud that such groups are trying to halt?

No, this was casting false accusations of "RACIST!!!" at your Republican primary opponent. The Democrat needs to win this one. The RNC needs to pull back a bloody stump for this bit of sabotage.

Agreed. We can afford to flush out the RINOs -- it will still leave enough real conservatives in place to prevent the lame-duck administration from doing too much damage, and then the country can be put back on track when the GOP Establishment learns its lesson and starts fighting for sound principles.

I hear that The Onion might go out of business -- these days, it's just too hard for satire to differentiate itself from real news.

I think the GOP is becoming ‘racist and stupid’.

I say the Tea Party needs to go independent.

(I realize a whole bunch here want to work within the GOP, I understand this and agree in part, just taking a personal stand on this)

Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, keep on pushing the GOP. Just saying.

It doesn't do any good to want to work with the GOP when they clearly don't want to work with you.

The general election in Ms for the Senate seat is a perfect test case for a 3rd (conservative) party to demonstrate that it can win. I know lot’s of folks want a write in, but a write in will not work. Ms has a sore loser law, plus Ms does not count write in votes. So forget a write in, find a decent conservative and run him/her as a 3rd party candidate. I certainly hope conservatives in Ms take the 3rd party route if only to see how viable a 3rd party might be. We are continuously told 3rd parties can not win. Well let’s see if that’s true. There are 2 democrats running and no conservatives, time to test the waters.
