One of the world's leading virologists has warned against public hysteria surrounding the Zika virus, saying global health authorities need to focus more broadly on prevention of infectious diseases rather than finding a cure for specific outbreaks.
Leslie Lobel, an Israeli physician who has worked with the US military and the Uganda Virus Research Institute to try to find a vaccine for Ebola, believes ...the evidence is not yet conclusive. "it's not clear that what's going on in Brazil is linked to the Zika virus. There's no definitive proof that Zika is causing microcephaly. I believe the hysteria is way ahead of the research or the facts."
Doubts focus on the uneven spread of the disease and birth abnormalities. Almost all the linked cases are found in the north-east region of Brazil....In neighbouring Colombia, which has more than 31,000 Zika cases, including at least 5,000 pregnant women, there has not been the same sharp rise in foetal deformities.

He believes the money could be spent more effectively to deal with future, more severe challenges.
Compared to Ebola or dengue, he said Zika was not much to worry about other than for pregnant women, in which case it was prudent to take precautions until more is known about the risks and the possible link with microcephaly. "I don't want to downplay this," he said. "But we need a lot more work and we need to do it fast."
In the meantime, Lobel calls for a measured response. "Hysteria is always unwanted. We need to educate. We need to make a calm response. We don't want hysteria because that leads to massive social unrest, which can cause more damage than the virus itself."

Abort now, diagnosis later.
From an economic/public policy perspective alone, a far better use of resources would be to bring back DDT, for heaven's sake, to fight all the mosquito-spread diseases.
As it stands, this zika-microcephaly propaganda is another "spur" used by the anti-birth forces, trying to stampede pregnant women into aborting their little ones, and coerce pro-life nations to dump their life-protective laws and Constitutions.
They are doing this to promote abortions. Millions of women around the world are being pressured into abortions by this.

I listened to Dennis Prager (first time ever for me) this morning and he had an expert on who said the same thing you did. They are encouraging all pregnant women in South America to abort. He called it ghoulish and genicidal. He explained that it won’t spread into the US for a variety of reasons. The big one is that the mosquitos that carry it don’t/can’t live north of Panema.
There has been no conclusive evidence that the virus is the cause of microcephaly. So wicked to use fear to push for mass abortions.
Is Bill Gates involved ?
He could be secretly financing the whole campaign...all in the name of compassion.
When there is no budget , or accountability , or receipts,
we can never be sure exactly where the money goes .
Compassion by a Socialist ?.. or just redistribution of wealth ?
There is now at least one well-documented case of microcephaly developing during a pregnancy being monitored by ultrasound, with a complete Zika genome isolated from the brain tissue of the fetus.
There may be other causes of microcephaly, and the evildoers will seize on this tragedy as they do with others, but I don’t think there is a serious doubt anymore about the teratogenic effects of in utero Zika virus infection.

I wan to emphasize that even a person with a mental handicap is a human being who has as much right to simply go on living, as you do. They can know and be known, love and be loved. The idea that they should be exterminated --- whether before or after birth --- is truly barbarous.
Mental handicap does not raise the question of the baby's humanity --- but of our own.
Assuming people read the article.
Mosquitoes and viruses do not respect national borders but supposedly Zika does. I ain’t buying it.
IMO it’s a cover-up for a bad batch of the Tdap vaccine mothers receive during pregnancy. Reminiscent of Thalidomide.
Correction: Dtap vaccine.

However, there are many potential teratogens, and many genetic and epigenetic factors related in complex ways to microcephaly. There is nothing even approaching a linear relationship between Zika exposure and microcephaly occurrence is SA.
Trumpeting Zika as the "single cause"(especially based on a single case) looks like ZPG-ready propaganda -- or public panic --- nor science.
Zika, Dengue fever, malaria, and other serious diseases are mosquito-vectored. The cost-effective approach, I say once again: bring back the DDT.
Typo: “not” science
As of Feb. 15, 21 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the state, including three in nearby Hillsborough County. Seven cases have been confirmed in Miami-Dade County, three in Lee, four in Broward, one in Santa Rosa, one in St. Johns, one in Osceola and one in Alachua County.
Health officials said that all of the cases are travel-related, which means the person was infected with Zika virus by a mosquito while traveling outside the United States. tbnweekly.com
It's good to be alert to what the ZPG mob is or may be up to.
In real life, I do control of infectious diseases, and as such I've been up to my neck in Zika for several weeks. Up until yesterday morning, I was saying "not proven" about microcephaly, and asking for evidence. Now, there's evidence.
The case I referred to does not exclude other possible causes of microcephaly in Brazil, but it does show that THIS virus, unlike other flaviviruses, can cause a severe birth defect.
What it SHOULD do (but won't) is make people serious about mosquito control. The environuts are al;ready saying, "It's not the mosquitoes, it's the pesticides" causing the microcephaly, and I just wanted to put that case out there for everybody's awareness.
Keep the faith.
No problem = no money
