Cruz on back to Texas, Ted. You gave it your best shot!
The Green Papers 2016 Presidential Primaries, Caucuses, and Conventions ^ | March 23, 2016 | Myself/Vanity/Data Analysis

THE DELEGATE RACE MATH ~ 35% of the primary election race remains.

Trump won 7,825,264 votes -—> 755 delegates.

T.Cruz won 5,737,119 votes —-> 465 delegates.

~~Countdown to 1237 delegates~~

There are 895 hard delegates remaining of which some are free/soft delegates. Some delegates have already been won by other candidates. We have 808 new delegates 'up for grabs' in the upcoming races.

Donald Trump: 755 delegates won. He must win 482 more delegates to reach 1237. That is 59% of the 808 remaining hard delegates. He may lose 397 more delegates & still win 1237.

Ted Cruz: 465 delegates won. He must win 772 more delegates to reach 1237. That is 96% of the 808 remaining hard delegates. He may lose 36 more delegates & still win 1237.

The current rules set a goal of reaching a simple majority of the delegates combined with a majority win of eight state delegations. When no candidate earns the majority of delegates, the rules change significantly.

party would pick a (no name) republican, which he/they clearly do not consider Cruz to be.

If that is so, then maybe the Trumpsters and Cruzers may coalesce around a third party.

“Sounds like you think that most of the Trump delegates are suddenly going vote for Cruz on the 2nd ballot? Otherwise I don’t see how Cruz makes it.”

I'm guessing folks think that the other delegates (Kasich, Rubio, etc.) would be more likely to vote for Cruz. But even if they all went for Cruz that seems tough for him.

I'm just estimating at the numbers, but I think about 900 delegates are still to be voted on. If 490 go to Trump he has about 1230 and falls short. 410 go to Cruz and he has 875. All of the remaining delegates total about 360 - even if they all go Cruz, Cruz still has only 1234 delegates. (Assuming that Trump and Cruz both keep their original delegates, which they very well might not depending on how their states elected them.)

All pretty confusing.

Like Art Bell says “May you live in interesting times.”

Don’t worry about a brokered convention. Trump would walk in there and take over the show. He’d make it bigger than an overtime Superbowl game. Greatest Show on Earth Ever. He’d come out of it smiling and joking and looking like Hulk/Superman/Batman all in one.

I’d love to see it.

There WILL NOT be a contested convention!!! You are ONLY wishing for a contested convention!!! Trump WILL handily walk into convention will needed delegates in hand!!! You folks really need to start preparing yourselves for this REALITY! The only thing concerning me at this point is SOROS pouring money and influence into KASICH!!! So if Cruz supporters REALLY think Trump is MORE LIB Than KASICH we truly might have a problem !!!!

According to an article I read today, there are 808 delegates still up for grabs.

Thanks! Not much time left if you are Cruz, and “Oh my God when will this be over!?” if you are a member of the voting public.

Trump has the only foreseeable road to victory taken into account the future elections. Cruz’s path is like a tight-rope walk dependent on Ted winning at double his usual rate. Plus he needs a great deal of delegate reassignments to go his way.

With the full backing of the GOPe, Teb! most persuade nearly all the uncommitted delegates to go his way. Or block Trump from getting 1237 and settle for something else that he wants if they plan to nominate some other tool.

Then it will all work out, as it should, by the end of the primary nomination cycle. If the rest of the country wants Trump for their President, he will have his 1237 delegates going into the Convention.

Bye bye....

Yep. Bye Bye America if the RNC denies the will of the people. Hillary crushes Cruz and it's over for America. People will NOT for the man who is the fulfillment of the Mormon prophecy.

Excuse me....

The “will of the people” is determined by the first candidate to earn 1237 delegates.

But, I know that’s a difficult concept to grasp.

I anticipate that if Trump has the 1237, they will still try and hijack the election by a dirty rules change, recounts, bribery of delegates, or attempts to DQ individual delegates.

Trump needs someone that has convention rules experience in place. He needs his own ‘team’ to stay ahead and cut off attempts at rule changing prior to the convention. And he must watch his back more than ever.

There is no semblance of honor within in the GOP establishment. There’s billions of dollars at stake. Given that their power and salaries are backed almost exclusively by special interests, why would they want Trump to win? I doubt there are many true American patriots left in our government.

Cruz and Kasich have NO chance of getting enough delegates through primaries and caucuses. None. Zero. Zip.

Only Donald Trump can win fair and square and make the claim that he was ELECTED to be the GOP nominee by the PEOPLE.

Anyone else is NOT elected by the people, but are selected by the party leaders.

If Cruz and Kasich have ANY integrity or any respect for the voters they would drop out now and throw their support to Donald J Trump.

Exactly, it is very clear at this point. The DREAM of a brokered convention is suicide. They know it as well as everyone else knows it. To continue on now is to work directly towards a Hillary Clinton administration.

About delegate count discrepancies ~

Only some are bound as pledged, 808. The others are difficult to account for at this time. I am unsure if once a softy commits to a candidate if he/she may change course prior to convention. Likely, each state has their own rules. And then there is the redistribution of others by state party rules

That’s the $$$$ money quote: >> He’d make it bigger than an overtime Superbowl game. Greatest Show on Earth Ever.

A Jackpot win from a love/hate relationship: No other candidate in our lifetime could generate the MSM ratings that Trump would deliver for the loathing despicable media.

Could you imagine the cost of commercial air time?

The uncommitted delegates:

Currently there are 10 uncommitted delegates listed on the summary page. They are from a large state because they represent 66,000 votes.

But Cruz & Kasich will continue to collect money if they stay live. Which is legitimate if they need to retire campaign debt, I suppose. But the negative personal attacks and verbal support of marxist protestors is not going to get any republican elected this year. They damage the front-runner at the expense of the entire party and their careers.

No the GOPe is still dreaming and plotting and scheming from what I just heard today. They would likely prefer Hellary, so there ya go.
