After reading this article, it seems that this could be a case of grade discrimination... Preventing students that would push up the grade curves in all classes, making it difficult for those on the bottom of the curve or the “Studies” course majors, to stay there.

Of course they discriminate against Asians - and Whites.
If they didn’t discriminate those groups they would lose their precious ‘diversity.’ The vast majority of the student body would be Asian or White.

Some time ago I went out with a woman who was a graduate of Radcliffe,which soon after went on to be “absorbed” by Harvard.She told me that a fellow classmate of hers who went on the work in Harvard’s Admissions Office told her that if it wasn’t for Harvard’s “affirmative action” policies the entire student body there would consist of Asians and Jews.

I have no sympathy for anyone who puts whatever in front of American. If you hold American citizenship, you're American, period. That has nothing to do with your race. Asian is a race. American is a citizen of America. The two are not the same.
