You see what happens when you start trading liberty for alleged security. Under George W. Add to that fact that late in Obama’s administration they opened the NSA signal data to ANY request for it from ANY of the 13 intelligence units (without NSA exercising their privacy & need to know firewalls) which include numerous Obama hold-overs in the deep state, and you have ammunition for “leaks” and mischief.

Legally? How in the heck would this have been done “legally”?
Intercepted communication and covert surveillance? I would sure hope that the default setting for spying on civilians is to consider it to be “ILLEGAL” unless and until the rare circumstance arises and there is clear proof that it was warranted.
And that “proof that it was warranted” needs to be pretty well explained to We The People.

What the hell is “incidental collection?”
I was reading about FISA the other day. Apparently the FISA has to be renewed every 30 days (on the average). So every 30 days would have been a new FISA, or, an extension by the same judge who (we hope) would have insisted on seeing justification for an extension. Exceeding the original 30 days without a judge’s extension or a new FISA is a YuGE no-no.
Now we need to know which judge signed the original FISA and whether that judge granted extensions and why or why not.

Not only did the surveillance take place, but Obama’s team saw to it that the intelligence was spread around far and wide. Much easier to hide a leak to the press if tons of people have access.
