'The Man in the High Castle' Is So Good Now Because It's So Real Now
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 10/31/18 | Tim Goodman

With a new showrunner and heightened Trump-era relevancy, Amazon's most popular original series is now must-see TV.

Then came Trump.

Depending on where you fall on the political spectrum — and if you're in the Trump camp, you're not going to like where this is going — the resulting horror show that fractured this country even further was a daily dose of depressing headlines that hasn't abated. The culture war that existed well before Trump's election has never been more divisive.

This is what I would expect from Hollywood. This authors vein attempt to equate the Trump Presidency to some alternate Nazi story of their conquest of America is another good example of the left blaming the opposition for how they operate and what they are guilty of.

The left in this country is notorious for shutting down free speech, as the Nazi's did, rewriting or revising history, as the Nazi's did, destroying historical monuments they disagree with, as the Nazi's did, embracing socialism, as the Nazi's did, educating our youth to only subscribe to one side of the political spectrum, as the Nazi's did. Democrats and the left in this country today have EVERYTHING in common with the 4th Reich and what the Nazi's stood for and yet they love to equate Trump with the evil that they themselves embrace so enthusiastically.

So now America is Man in the High Castle and Handmaid’s Tale. Yet millions of people still want to come here.

I watched S1E1 the other day.

Boring, dull and slow. I realize most series start off this way, but I find no reason to watch any more.

Tried to watch it. Major fail for me. I just watched Bodyguard on Netflix, OTOH, and it was fairly good.

I watched a few episodes. Interesting premise.

Brilliant move by author to turn off 1/2 the country who might have watched the show.

And I agree with what you said in your post 1.

I’ve just started watching The Man in the High Castle. I’m on s1 e8.

From what I’ve seen so far, it’s pretty well written. What I like is seeing all the vintage trucks and automobiles. They are almost the “stars” of the show.

As far as what the writer of the is article is implying I can only give a huge eye-roll.

PKD is dead.

What does "PKD" mean and why do people feel it necessary to talk in acronyms as if they think that everyone knows what the hell they are saying?

I watched season 1 and 2 then saw the trailer for season 3. The first thing I noticed was the use of a peace sign then using the term Nazis and white supremacist. They never used that in season 1 and 2 so I figured they were going down the road of “evil trump”. I watched the first episode of season 3 and was bored to death. However, season 1 and were done very well.

I watched the first season and the first part of the second season but lost interest.. Just too many silly premises and odd anachronisms (tube radio technology of the '50s with supersonic airliners, for example).

This reviewer is a perfect example of the Trump Derangement sufferers in that everything that he sees as wrong is automatically Trump's fault.

It's funny: during the horrific eight years of Obama, people of his stripe saw the world as a wonderful place and now that Trump is in, it's Nazi Germany.

I honestly believe that it's a mental illness.

The problem with the show is the writers unintentionally made people like Obergruppenfuhrer Smith more likeable and sympathetic than Julia and her boyfriend, and they got mad that people vocalized this. People weren’t supposed to like Smith as a complex character but just unabashedly be for the ever so cliché resistance.

Season 3 rectified this by killing off a lot of people and essentially nuking the script.

yes I know!

I don’t read much SciFi any more.
All my favorite authors are gone and I just can’t get into the current crop.

It’s actually ok. There are a lot of people who read too much politics into everything.

The book was fun. The show is better than most re-tread crap on the networks.
