Biden to announce authorization of E15 gasoline in an effort to increase US fuel supply, reduce gas prices

President Biden on Tuesday is set to announce that the Environmental Protection Agency will allow E15 gasoline—gasoline that uses a 15% ethanol blend—to be sold in the United States this summer in an effort to expand Americans’ access to affordable fuel supply amid the surge in gas prices across the nation.

The EPA is set to issue a national, emergency waiver. Without the action, the White House said E15 cannot be used in most of the country from June 1 to September 15. The EPA is expected to take final action to issue the emergency waiver closer to June 1.

So far, I have been able to purchase ethanol free fuel from my local farm co-op for all my small engines. It is a bit more expensive than ethanol-regular, but well worth it to me.

E15 can only be dispensed from a dedicated pump like E85 typically it is right next to it look for a blue hose next to the yellow hose. It also must have a 4”x4” orange and black EPA sticker listing the approved vehicles that may use that fuel which is officially known as U88 the hose color and sticker are Federal laws. U88 is only approved in flex fuel and 2001 or newer vehicles it is in fact illegal to use it in small off road engines or order vehicles this is why it is in dedicated pumps with labels and color coded hoses a.d nozzles so Bubba doesn’t just see the 20 cents cheaper price point and pump it in his 20 year old vehicles tank “by accident” you will.100% know that the fuel you are using is E15 or not no different than E85 which is also regulated.

Gasoline engines are made for burning gasoline, not alcohol. Does this incompetent nincompoop want to destroy all gasoline engines so he can force us to switch to electric?

Will it really lower fuel prices or just eat at the margins and make them rise less than they usually would? Anyone look at gas prices from 2018 to see what happened when Trump did this? Looks like less than 10% of US cars can use e85 anyway. Only twenty one million or so vs like 280 million vehicles. This is political theater, not meaningful policy. Plus it’s hypocrisy for the “planet is dying in two years unless we end civilization” political agenda.

The Bucees chain has E0 fuel pumps these are the mega chain stations with 100+ pumps on site look for the Red signs directing you to E0 it’s 40 cents more per gallon at the Bucees in Melissa t
Texas vs E10 which is what is mandated here in DFW with E15 being 20 cents cheaper than E10 right now at the same pumps.

You bet they know that they are diverting corn to be burned as a very inefficient fuel away from food production in the face of a looming world wide food shortage.

Two things here:

1. Nobody is “diverting corn” here. Ethanol is already a component of gasoline in the U.S. today. All they’re doing is allowing it to be used through the entire year instead of eliminating it during the summer months.

2. This has nothing to do with the components of gasoline and everything to do with minimizing supply chain disruptions. Using different blends of gasoline at different times of the year is an enormous pain in the ass … which is why President Trump tried to do this exact same thing in 2019.

Do you really think the corn used for ethanol is the same corn that could be sold in your local grocery store?

For a rational government, this would be a good time to end ethanol mandates.

E15 can be used in 90% of the cars on the road today that’s the number newer than 2001. At this point any increase in supply should lower prices since the market is supply limited. Both my turbo sports sedans like E15 it’s higher octane and latent heat capacity means they run at a higher boost level before knock sets in my turbo controller shows 2 more psi with E15 vs E10 that’s worth 35 to 40 HP.

NPR coverage when Trump announced this move in 2018: “ MASTERS: Well, we use an example of yesterday, the National Wildlife Federation said the move is not legally allowed under the Clean Air Act. They said in a release that the change would produce more pollutants that lead to smog than gasoline alone. There are reports that a number of outside environmentalist groups have said that they will sue over any change to the fuel policy. So there's that with environmental concerns from environmentalists. But I should also add that there is bipartisan opposition to this move also from U.S. senators in primarily oil-producing states.”

Will environmentalists be silent for Joe?

White House April 12, 2022: Mr. Biden will issue an emergency waiver allowing the summer sale of gasoline blended with 15% ethanol, called E15. Most gasoline sold in the U.S. contains 10% ethanol.

Lawmakers warn type of ethanol can ruin car, boat, small engines.

Of course they know it will cause food shortages.

You can’t get social changes without social destruction.

They want to destroy the world and recreate it in their image.

There is no such thing as fossil fuels, that term is just fake science to make it sound like we have a limited supply. They had to go to Global Warming once they found we were floating on an ocean of oil and gas.

This will destroy and or severely damage engines...This stinks!

Maybe they want to do this so people will buy E.V's. Wouldn't surprise me with this bunch of idiots.
