A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day 08-05-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

Mr. and Mrs. FR

When Jim Robinson's name was mentioned for the FReeper of the Day,  all of us wanted to be the one to feature him!  However,  instead of flipping a coin or fighting
it out to see who won :),  St.Louie suggested that JustAmy probably knew him better and longer than the rest of us,  so why not ask her to write his tribute?  Seemed like
a great idea,  and when Amy agreed,  another thought came to mind:

We could all work on this one!  Louie had already created that wonderful graphic of Jim and Sheila above;  Amy would write the main thread,   MamaBear and daisyscarlett could each say a few words,  and I would put it all together.  YES!  We had a plan!  Here, then, is the result of our tribute to the man who is FReeRepublic, and the wonderful woman behind him.

Jim is not just a Vietnam Vet in a wheelchair. Neither is he just the founder of FreeRepublic. Jim is a man with strong beliefs and a deep love of his God, his family and his country.
Jim will take to the air or to the road to show his dedication to his beliefs. After making 3 trips to DC (March for Justice, Judgment Day and House Managers Tribute Rally and Dinner), he eagerly attended the Freeper's Inaugural Ball. This Ball was possible, in part, to Jim's and FreeRepublic's 'SoreLoserman' Rallies and dedication to removing all signs of Clinton/Gore.
What's next on the agenda? How about Scumbag, Gary Condidit? Jim spent many Saturday's driving 4 hours to Modesto where he could join the Modesto Freepers for 2 hours in calling for Condit's removal from office.
Since 9-11-2001, Jim and his family can be found every Friday night at the corner of Shaw and Blackstone (Patriots Corner) counter-protesting the war protesters and showing his support for President Bush's war on terrorism and his support for our military.
Although Sheila does not always agree with his political views, they share their belief in God and their love of family and country. You will find her at his side Friday evenings for The Support Our Troops Rallies. She may entertain with her rendition of "We don't smoke marijuana at Shaw and Blackstone."
It is impossible to spotlight Jim and Sheila without acknowledging Chris, pictured at right. He not only makes sure they get where they need to be, whether it be Washington, DC or Patriots Corner. He gladly picks up a sign of support and carries the flag as he keeps the boom box volume turned high.
~ JustAmy

What can I say about Jim Robinson that has not been said many times over?   While I was pondering this question, it occurred to me how different my life would be without this wonderful website.   Jim Robinson's FreeRepublic is my home on the internet.  Actually, it is Jim's home on the internet and he has opened it up to all of us.
This is where I come to meet like-minded people who share my values, my love for God and country and my fears for her future. Here we can link arms and hearts in supporting our conservative causes while making life-long FRiendships, and having fun all at the same time! I have never met a finer group of people and it is because of Jim that we have this place to gather.
In short, Jim's dedication to his country, to his conservative values and to this website is inspiring. I believe I am a better person for knowing him and the many fine patriots who frequent this site. No, I cannot imagine my life without FreeRepublic. Thank you and God bless you, Jim.
~ Mama_Bear

I still get chills when I see the above photo of you leading the March for Justice in Washington D.C. in 1998 calling for the impeachment of President William Jefferson Clinton. I do not know what I can add to all of the nice things that have been said about you, and certainly will be said about you again today, except that I agree with all of them. We can never thank you enough for FREE REPUBLIC. God Bless you Jim Robinson.
~ daisyscarlett

In closing, I want to add only my thanks, once again, for your vision, Jim, in creating the greatest conservative site on the net. And Amy has asked me to remind everybody that she will be posting many more photos from the family album throughout the day!  So let this
be the last thread all of you check before turning off your pc tonight!

Nope, not a bit. Have had to call the police several times for prowlers, I think it might be kids out prowling but can't prove anything so I am looking for somewhere in town again. This is supposed to be one of the better neighborhoods too.

Hey Y'all. I want to thank all of you for making this wonderful thread possible. I've long admired your individual creativity and talents but today I'm expecially enjoying your collective efforts.
Mr Robinson,

I'm so pleased to have an opportunity to participate in this tribute to you and Mrs Robinson. Thank you for your service to our country. Thirty plus years ago, when we were embroiled in an unpopular conflict thousands of miles from home, a young Jim Robinson answered his nation's call to duty. You willingly sacrificed a part of your youth at great personal risk for the sake of others, in defense of freedom and because it was the right thing to do. Your tireless devotion, courage and unwavering patriotism inspire and encourage me.

Today so many of our young people are once again in harms way. They are thousands of miles from home and away from their loved ones. To be sure they're engaged in a just and worthy cause and they too are prepared to risk it all to defend and to preserve the privileges of freedom for America and for the world. They, too, have answered the calling of a higher cause because it is the right thing to do. We can never adequately express our gratitude to them or to all previous generations in whose footsteps they follow. What we can do is support them and acknowledge their selfless dedication to preserving life as we know it for future generations of patriots who will inevitably one day find themselves following in their large footsteps.

Through FR you have continued your efforts to promote and protect our freedom and that of freedom loving people everywhere. In the midst of 9-11, as the horrible weight of that day unfolded and settled in on each of us, you again came forward in defense of our country and it's leadership. I was struck by the moral clarity of your purpose and determination to support our president, our troops and the very foundations of our country. Again, you answered the call because it was the right thing to do.

Congratulations to you and to your bride. I hope you both enjoy all the heartfelt good wishes coming your way today from so many of us grateful FReepers. Thank you for all you do to make this forum possible.

...uuhhhh, go to that site, and do some follow up on Mr.&Mrs.Lion. Due to the family nature, and all round wholesomeness of this thread, I could not post the romantical antics of our friends.

Not even for educational and instructional purposes - but trust me that Mr.Lion takes his homework quite seriously. ;-)

How many do you s'pose you've really made today? LOL

Thank you for taking such good care of everyone today, TLL!

You have an absolutely beautiful thread today. Although, you normally do have beautiful threads, but this one for JimRob is magnificent.

And MUCH of that credit today has to go to 'my' creative writers and that talented artist! LOL! Seriously, their words and Louie's picture were inspiration to put it together this way. As I mentioned earlier to someone else, it started with the picture that Louie created and framed in that wonderful patriotic frame...the rest fell into place after the others sent me what they had written.

Thank you for those wonderful words, Darlin' - I'll let the others speak for themselves, but just know that it was a great pleasure for me to do this today. The photos that Amy's posting are treasures, aren't they?!

Thanks for the update on the life of Mr. and Mrs. Lion.

I am pleased to learn that her love and devotion were not rejected totally.

I did notice that his tongue is hanging out a bit, however.

That baby winking at us is the cutest thing!!!!

But all the baby pictures have been good - including those of JimRob's boys! Could they have ever been so small.....

This has been one of the most fun Finest Threads of all - which is as it should be - since it is about our fearless leader.

Here's to you, Mr. Robinson (and Mrs. Robinson) for making your mark in the history of the world. I hope one day when things are all said and done, your names will be there as internet PIONEERS in the fight for the bright and shining city on a hill, America, land of the free (freer than we would have been had you, JimRob, not come on the scene) and home of the brave (and you two are two of the bravest).

With that - signing off til late tonight. Blessings on all!
