NEW LOCATION FOR HUGE D.C. RALLY FOR AMERICA, SATURDAY, APRIL 12
Citizens United Foundation ^ | Saturday, April 5, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/05/2003 9:58:15 AM PST by kristinn

The Rally for the Troops, Rally for America being organized by Citizens United and Young America's Foundation in Washington, D.C. from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 has been moved to a location away from the anti-war rally and march being held by C.A.N.S.W.E.R. the same day and time.

The support our troops rally, co-sponsored by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, will now be held on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, NW. This area of the Mall is also between the Capitol and the Air & Space museums.

The nearest Metro stations are Federal Center, L'Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Judiciary Square and Archives/Navy Memorial. A little further away are Union Station, Federal Triangle, and Capitol South.

Those driving to D.C. from out of state might do well to utilize the parking lots at the outlying Metro stations just off the interstates as you approach the Beltway.

Street and pay lots/garages are available in town. Come early for the best spots as this is one of the busiest tourist times with the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Click here for a detailed map of downtown D.C.

Those attending are asked to bring American flags, large and small and signs bearing messages supporting our troops and the U.S.A. Citizens United also is asking for people to bring: "Donations for the troops. If you would like to bring something, they are asking for: baby wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, pre-paid international calling cards, and letters of support."

For more information about the rally and Citizens United, click the source link above.

Along with other co-sponsors of the rally, the D.C. Chapter will have a booth or table there. Stop by and say hello.

Headlining the rally will be G. Gordon Liddy and country music star Aaron Tippin. From the announcement, "There will also be a special video presentation for the troops featuring country music legends Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, the Charlie Daniel’s Band and Ben Stein of Comedy Central."

Please make the extra effort to come out for this one. The tide has shifted against the so-called "anti-war" movement, but they did have an effect on troop morale. It's important that those who support the troops and their mission make a loud public statement in our nation's capital. Our troops have given their all for us, the least we can do is give up an afternoon to stand up for them.

We've all done it. No problem. No advise from here.

I log on, get pix from someone that knows, log off and go to Freep at rallies. Pretty simple.

Sorry to annouce that I won't be able to make it next Saturday. I have to take a trip to NC to see my kids and grandson. We had a great time on our Cruise. Here are some pics of me FReeping for the Troops: http://w-04.com/FReepingCruise/index.htm

hertz gold club. left the heart of the city via mass ave. (If you're travelling south from Harrisburg, river road exit from the Beltway connects via goldsboro (turn right) to the endpoint of mass ave (turn left less than a mile later), and Mass Ave swoops you into the city with minimum traffic.

So I went Mass Avenue to Beltway (eastbound) briefly to Route 270 north to Route 15. Traffic on both Route 270 and Route 15 moves fast. Took 2 hours 15 minutes door to door.

Ah good! I was going to ask. (They're not doing flyers? Hmm. Well, someone should.)

My weekend's going fine. I hope you guys had a great time at Bennigan's. There *are* antiwar posters in my neighborhood already for next weekend's radical left march, alas, sigh, illegally posted on public spaces. I know what to do.

I'm sorry you live in the People's Republic of Connecticut. Why not move to Maryland?

Just kidding! :-)

I don't like that sign. Makes the Iraq war look like part of his re-election campaign (hopefully, it's not).

I'd leave them be. It's refreshing to see dumb laws being broken; post your own stuff nearby. :-)

Sorry you don't like it..... most do. The way I see it, anything he does correctly in office is a good reason to re-elect him. His respoonses since 9/11 was what inspired me to start W-04.com - Operation Iraqi Freedom is just another part of his response.

The little round stickers come in very handy for pasting on top of the hate-America stickers all over town.
