Soooooo MR. CORNYN WHAT ARE YOU PREPARED TO DO ABOUT THIS??

Continue writing worthless words in the newspaper and get sympathy or tell your republican leaders to grow a spine and lock up the Senate in continual debate until they fold!!!!!

The suggestions were pretty reasonable up until this one:

• Sen. Charles Schumer advocates an overhaul of the nomination process by eliminating the president's appointment power and instead giving President Bush and Sen. Daschle "equal roles in picking the judge-pickers."

As if anyone will believe that was Schumer's idea. Little Tommy put him up to it, dontcha know. The rats will never understand that the Constitution 'aint broke' and doesn't need any 'fixing'. They just need to suck it up and call for the vote.

What is Senator Cornyn's email address? I would like to share Congressman BillyBob's solution with him that would end these shenanigans NOW!

“This [the filibustering] is a problem that must be solved, one way or another, within the Senate. The cleanest way is for a Senator to raise a Point of Order during the debate on Estrada or Owen, that "The Cloture Rule cannot be applied to a judicial confirmation because it violates Article II, Section 2, clause 2, which provides for a simple majority decision on such nominations."

For this important purpose, Dick Cheney should be in the Chair as President of the Senate. He then rules without debate (since Points of Order are non-debatable), that, "Rule XXII cannot be applied to judicial nominations because it violates the majority vote requirement."

Rulings of the Chair can only be overturned by a majority vote of the Senators present. Since the Democrats cannot muster a majority against such a ruling, the filibuster will then be dead for all time with respect to all judicial nominees. Then, if the Democrats don't like that result, they can take it to court and be pitched out on their ears. “

Sounds good to me.

Interesting, isn't it, that Cornyn, a freshman senator, is taking a leadership role in spotlighting the Democrat obstruction?

This subcomittee strikes me as a good idea. It will force the Democrats into the open -- having to somehow defend their actions. The question is whether Cornyn will get any media coverage for his efforts.

Rush said today that Senator Talent from Missouri has come up with a possible solution and somehow Paul Wyrick is involved. Something like--after a cloture vote a senator would challenge the vote on the grounds that it was unconstitutional. The parlimentarian would then call the senator out of order. Then the parlimentarian's decision would be appealed. And then an up or down vote could take place. However, 51 solid votes would have to be there for it to work. I don't know anything about this kind of
stuff but it sure sounded interesting coming from Rush this
PM.

The Republicans say they are hesitant to use this option because they afraid that the Democrats will then use it against them if the Dems get control of the Senate again.

I think that the Republicans are insane if they think that not using this now will prevent the Democrats from not using it in the future.

Just ask yourself, 'What would Daschel do?'.
