We need to convince President Bush (and Karl Rove)
that California is NOT a "lost cause" for the GOP.

If the White House strategerists decide that California is WINNABLE,
the President will campaign in California aggressively next year,
which will help WHOEVER is running for office here,
at ALL levels.

Please HELP US tell the President that:

L.A.

W

Here is the ROUGH DRAFT of our logo.
We will have a LIMITED number of T-shirts at the rally that say:
Thank GOD
it's... .. .

. W! .
(abner's version will be MUCH BETTER!)

They will be available on a "first come, first served" basis - for a nominal cost ($10/each) - in sizes XL and L.

Ted Hayes and I (and a few FRiends, like you?) plan to get there EARLY on Friday, probably by 3 pm to prepare.
Security will be INTENSE, and traffic will be a MESS, please so come as soon as you can.
As at the Academy Awards, please bring AMERICAN FLAGS and SIGNS, but NO flag poles - or sticks.

Since I refuse to attend any event that doesn't have childcare (LOL), I will do my part by bumping this thread.

Note that the "cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R." will be "marching" right past us.
As he did for our rally at the Academy Awards earlier this year, TED HAYES has secured an official permit for us to gather on the NORTHWEST corner of Constellation and Avenue of the Stars.
The RATs are allowed to gather on the SOUTHEAST and SOUTHWEST corners.
Avenue of the Stars will be closed to ALL traffic (except emergency vehicles) from Constellation to Olympic.
From http://www.centuryplazatowers.com/entertainment_center/parking_info/:

WE will be in the TOP LEFT corner.
The RATs rally will be in front of the 2020 building,
possibly extending further south to Olympic.

The LAPD knows that WE will be there, and they know that the RATs will be there.

They will NOT allow anything bad to happen, but we must follow their directions.

Hi, AnnaZ!
I understand.
It is probably best that little ones - like your Hamlet, Indigo and new baby LIBERTY! - do NOT attend this event, as the "bad guys" may try to cause trouble.

Check out these "peace" protesters, from a previous thread:

Contrast the demeanor of the LAPD officers at OUR location with considerably more serious riot gear and helmets with face shields worn by their comrades unfortunate enough to be assigned to the BAD guys rally, in the FULL size image of that picture posted on la.indymedia.org.

Note also the clenched FISTS of many in the peaceful "anti-war" crowd...

OUR rally will be in front of THIS building.
(Nice location that you picked, Ted!)

And HERE is a RAT-level view of that same building, from THEIR rally site:

The RATs wll be HERE,
directly across from the Century Plaza Hotel.
(where the President will be attending a fundraising dinner)

Thanks, Rabid Republican!
This will be the President's only stop in SOUTHERN California for this trip.
He will also be in NORTHERN California earlier on Friday (6/27) - for a fundraising LUNCH in San Francisco.

Bush plans Bay Area campaign stopover
Visit to California in June aimed at raising funds

John Wildermuth, Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writers

Thursday, May 22, 2003
-->

President Bush is scheduled to visit the Bay Area and Los Angeles late next month for a pair of fund-raisers that are expected to generate $6 million for his 2004 re-election effort.

While GOP leaders say the president will make other, noncampaign stops during his seventh visit to California, the June 27 lunch at the San Francisco Airport Marriott in Burlingame and a dinner that night at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles are the events luring Bush to the state.

"Today I am writing to ask that you support his campaign as we kick it off here in California," Brad Freeman, Bush's state finance chairman, said in a letter to GOP donors.

"It will be months before Democrats settle on a candidate, but the election will be close," Freeman added in the letter. "(Bush) needs the help of friends now. His responsibilities as president will keep him off the campaign trail, so he will rely on our help more than ever."

Most of that help is going to involve checks with plenty of zeros. The lunch and the dinner each are expected to attract 1,500 people anxious to pay the $2,000-a-head price tag, which, not coincidentally, is the maximum amount an individual can give to the Bush-Cheney campaign for the primary election.

But Bush backers who raise $50,000 for the re-election campaign can be dinner sponsors, which comes with a pair of tickets to a VIP reception and a picture with Bush. Raising $100,000 makes a person a dinner vice-chair and a member of the campaign's Pioneers, while bringing in $200,000 makes the backer a dinner co-chair and part of the campaign's new, megadonor group, the Rangers.

"This is a natural stop for the president," said Mindy Tucker, a top aide to Bush during the 2000 campaign and now a counselor to the California Republican Party. "In 1999, when he launched his campaign he made an early swing through California that June."

On that three-day trip through the state, Bush raised nearly $5 million, or slightly less than he is expected to take from the two events next month.

Since last week, when Bush formally filed the paperwork to create a re- election campaign committee, the presidential fund-raising machine has kicked into high gear. A Washington, D.C., event he appeared at Wednesday night was expected to raise more than $20 million for the party.

Tucker said the stops in Burlingame and Los Angeles show that Bush plans to run a strong campaign in California, where he was beaten badly by Democrat Al Gore in 2000.

"There has never been a question about how important (California) is to the administration," she said. "The party feels there is a real opportunity here, for a lot of reasons."

Democrats argue that the big-dollar fund-raisers show that Bush's interest in California doesn't extend past his campaign treasury.

"In the end, California is only an ATM machine for Republicans nationally," said Bob Mulholland, a consultant for the state Democratic Party.

This will be her only Southern California booksigning.
Vroman's Bookstore
Vroman's Bookstore

695 E. Colorado Blvd
Pasadena, CA 91101
Tel: 626-449-5320
I talked with the staff at Vroman's, and it appears that they intend to:
- open the REAR doors at 8:30 am
- give each Hillary! sheep a receipt for however many books they buy
- send them outside to wait in line until 11 am.
All of the above is on their PRIVATE property, however, so we will NOT be able to FReep them there, but the line will almost certainly extend towards the FRONT of the store, through the walkway between the side of their building and the Laemelle Playhouse 7 next door - where they will not be able to escape SEEING us, and HEARING us. :o).
I will talk with the Pasadena police department tomorrow to confirm this, but it appears that we will be able to assemble on the PUBLIC sidewalk directly in front of the store, on Colorado Boulevard - VERY CLOSE to the sheep line.
I will be arriving before all but the most ambitious of the sheep, but suggest that the BULK of our forces plan to be there at 10 am, and stay until the Hildabeast leaves - at around 1 pm...
CLICK HERE for the rest of that thread
Supporting President Bush against the "cancer from A.N.S.W.E.R." on FRIDAY (6/27) is our most important mission, but "Haunting the Hildabeast" when she is in town on SUNDAY (6/29) will be too much fun to miss!

Unfortunately, I am WAY far away from you guys, but I am so grateful you are showing support and I will be cheering you on from afar!

Maybe you could get word to the White House that you will be there in support, just so they know. Even if the President doesn't get to see you because of his motorcade route, at least maybe they will send some White House pepople out to take pictures or something.

I am happy to bump this for you all.
