A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

New York Freeper PIZZA-AZZ

Something's been cookin' in the New York Freeper message board this past week!  Those New Yorkers have been cookin' up a stormy discussion about where to get the best pizza around the five boroughs.

Brace yourselves -- some of you regulars may find the following fact astounding -- but the New York Freepers were actually disagreeing a little on this subject!

Grab a slice before it's all gone, ignore your manners (remember, we're discussing New Yawkers and pizza here) and let's take a break from election politics, the UN, and other unsavory items to discuss a subject so near and dear to so many of us: New Yawkers Freeper lore on pizza: the best recipes, cooking hints, and yeas and nays about various pizza places.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD SLICE?

Well, it has to be hot and it has to be freshly made. But past that, I open it up to commentary by the New Yorkers. What's your pleasure?

SOME FUN PIZZA FACTS

When was the first pizza parlor opened in America? 1905 in New York of course! Almost one hundred years ago!

According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the biggest pizza ever made "happened" in South Africa in December 1990 at the Norwood Hypermarket. It measured a whopping 123 feet in diameter!!!

The history: Flat round bread evolved into pizza in the 18th century when tomatoes made their way into cooking. Tomatoes brought from Peru were at first considered love fruits and were thought to be poisonous on the European continent. So far as anyone knows, pizza was first eaten by sailors. Italian bakers would prepare pizza for sailors returning from fishing at dawn with fresh tomatoes, oil and garlic and a sprinkling of oregano. This is the classical Marinara pizza. Anchovies were also added making a very healthy complete meal. Pizza was baked in ovens and then sold in the streets of Naples: a boy, who balanced on his head the typical "stufa" (a tin stove to keep pizza warm), would bring directly to his customers the pizza, already made with different seasonings, after attracting their attention with his loud and typical calls.

NEW YORK FREEPER PIZZA-AZZ

My own personal recipe:

1. One Freeper Message Board

2. Several Opinionated New Yawkers, who for this purpose all claim Italian heritage.

3. Rivalry among the boroughs.

4. Serious love of pizza.

5. Mix ingredients quickly and heat to explosive temperature!

Hey ..... I can hear you. How are you this election eve? Will you be as happy as I will be to get tomorrow over with? I've been getting at least two political telephone calls per day. Don't vote for Arnold ..... Vote for Arnold ..... I was going to vote Yada Yada. Well with all the stuff going on, I guess I have to jump from Tom to Arnold.

It's important that we all remember to ....

Check this out. Jim Robinson endorses Arnold in order to crush California Liberalism !! ...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/996329/posts?page=40#40

Vanity: The Democrats and the L.A. Times must be defeated!!

Excerpt:

The Los Angeles Times and the Democrat corruption machine must be defeated!! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!

This is bigger than Schwarzenegger vs McClintock, bigger than Republican vs Democrat, and even bigger than conservative vs liberal. This is for our American way of life vs the dark side. Not just for California, but for all of America. The leadership of the Democrat Party and their official party platform of corruption, abortion, homosexualism, socialism, slavery to big government, slavery to over-taxation, slavery to terrorism and willing subjugation to foreign powers and world bodies is pure evil. Yes, I'd rather have a more conservative person than Arnold for California, but sorry folks, looks like the numbers aren't there. And I'm unwilling to take chances on allowing Davis to slip out of the recall or, even worse, to allow Bustamante to win the governorship.

Crushing liberalism is what Free Republic is all about. Gray Davis being recalled by the (mostly Democrat) people of California has got to be one of the greatest defeats for liberalism in recent history. And the additional rejection by the same democrat electorate of the ultra-liberal, illegal-alien-loving, tax-them-till-they-die, Cruz Bustamante will be the coup de grâce!

< snip >

Vote Yes on Recall and vote Yes for the Terminator!!
