WHAT BECAME OF THE
12 DISCIPLES?

1. John died of extreme old age in Ephesus.

2. Judas Iscariot, after betraying his Lord, hanged himself.

3. Peter was crucified, head downward, during the persecution of Nero.

4. Andrew died on a cross at Patrae, in Achaia, a Grecian Colony.

5. James, was thrown from a pinnacle of the Temple, and then beaten to death with a club.

6. Bartholomew was flayed alive in Albanapolis, Armenia.

7. James, the elder son of Zebedee, was beheaded at Jerusalem.

8. Thomas, the doubter, was run through the body with a lance at Coromandel, in the east Indies.

9. Philip was hanged against a pillar at Heropolis (Abyssinia).

10. Thaddeus was shot to death with arrows.

11. Simon died on a cross in Persia (now Iran.)

"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy" (1 Peter 4:12-13).

Are you suffering today? Remember the Christians who have gone before you. God will be with you in your suffering to give comfort and sweet relief. "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

Yes, Christians do suffer, but we know that "... If God be for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31.) This is one of the many sweet promises of God. Get the Bible out and reread them again and again and He will uplift your Spirit with His very Word.

Wow! I didn't know most of this. Thanks for posting - it gives better perspective on the cruelty portrayed in the film.

PAULS CONVERSION CAME BY GRACE
it is outlined in the book of acts which is transitonal after CHRISTS death and resurrection
he was the great missionary apostle who was really instrumental in bringing the GOSPEL to the gentiles
2nd timothy was his last scripture, and in the last chapter he writes to timothy that he is being poured out right before he is beheaded

Since Paul wasn't one of the 12, perhaps the better qustion would be, "What happened to Matthias?"

St. John was the only one who died a natural death (of old age), but he was the only one who stood by the Cross of Jesus when the rest fled in fear.

Act 1:23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

Act 1:26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Thats funny hes mentioned twice in the whole bible !

But paul on the other hand

Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

1Cr 1:1 Paul, called [to be] an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes [our] brother,

2Cr 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy [our] brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:

Gal 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

Phl 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Col 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus [our] brother,

1Th 1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians [which is] in God the Father and [in] the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2Th 1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

1Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;

2Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

2Ti 4:22 The Lord Jesus Christ [be] with thy spirit. Grace [be] with you. Amen. [[[The second [epistle] unto Timotheus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.]]]

Tts 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

One day it would be interesting to read the historical documentation about the fate of the twelve apostles.

Tough stuff. If I had to choose, I think I'd take the beheading, wouldn't you?

They all died in poverty as well. They gave up everything this life had to offer for our Lord Jesus and yet some people still say they made it all up.

I had forgotten some of this. Thanks for this post. As the actor who plays Jesus in The Passion of the Christ says, "people don't die for fairy tales". I absolutely believe that too.

We might also ask what happened to the "other" James as ther were three. One was killed, the other we hear nothing about and the THIRD James was the Lord's Brother, NOT one of the twelve. Yet he became the bishop of Jerusalem.

Unless i've missed the chapter and verse, Paul never knew Jesus in person. He only reported seeing him in some kind of 'vision of light'. After that, he went on to paganize what Jesus taught.

I was surprised to learn that Paul didn't know Jesus in person, myself. I still have not been able to find anything in scripture that says he did. It's possible i've missed it, though. If so, please point me to the chapter(s) and verse(s) showing Paul knew Jesus in the flesh.
