Christians and Muslims have been kept apart for over 1,300 years, because they were taught that irreconcilable differences exist between their religious beliefs. This has resulted in mutual distrust, persecution, and even wars. I was motivated to read the Quran by the events of September 11th, 2001.
I wanted to know the teachings in the Quran that could convince Muslims to be willing to sacrifice their lives, in order to kill persons who did not appear to be associated with Islam or their conflict.
My Christian tradition was the source of some anxiety, since I had been taught that the Koran was full of evil, and could cause the reader to be led astray. Even the name Koran sounded and appeared ominous. After convincing myself that my only motive for reading the book was to investigate its contents, I commenced reading with some trepidation.
I was surprised to find that the Quran seemed so familiar, and after reading several different translations, I began to wonder whether Muslims who followed the Quran, were part of the community of believers, otherwise called the elect of God.
The claim is admittedly shocking for some Christians, and had I heard of such an assertion by anyone before I read the Quran, I would have dismissed the claim and would have decided not to devote any effort investigating any evidence that the claimant might have provided. It is for this reason that I shall present what I understand the Quran teaches at this point in this article, in the hope that the reader will want to accompany me on this investigative journey.
What does the Quran Teach
The Quran appears to teach that Muslims must believe that Jesus:
- was born of the virgin Mary;
- taught the Gospel;
- performed many miracles, including raising the dead;
- was crucified;
- was raised by God; and
- is the Messiah.
The Quran also appears to teach that Muslims must:
- believe in one God who is identified as the only Creator, and the God of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Elisha, David, and the Old Testament Prophets;
- repent and believe in order to receive Gods forgiveness by grace;
- develop and cultivate a personal relationship with the God of Abraham;
- believe the Bible, and copy and distribute it to all nations of the earth without compensation;
- receive guidance from the Holy Spirit;
- resist the temptations from Satan; and
- avoid the condemnation of hell.
I realize that many readers, including Muslims, will not readily believe that the Quran actually teaches all of this; however, if you will read further, then we can examine the evidence together, and you can decide for yourself what the Quran teaches. If we reach similar conclusions, then perhaps our investigations can lead to some reconciliation between these brothers who have been unnecessarily kept apart for far too long.
Brothers Kept Apart
Most Muslim teachers have never read the Bible, yet they continue to criticize their understanding of Christian tradition. Similarly, most Christian teachers have never read the Quran, yet they continue to criticize their understanding of Islamic tradition. Thus both leaders continue to mislead more than half of the worlds population, who are either Christian or Muslim, about what the other believes.
Since Christians believe that Gods revelation is contained in the Bible, and Muslims believe that Gods revelation is contained in the Quran, then a scientific comparative analysis of both books can determine whether a common author is likely.
Brothers Kept Apart is perhaps the first comparative analysis of the Bible and the Quran, which assumes that both of the books are entirely correct. The study provides compelling evidence to show that there is harmony between the principal teachings of the Bible and the Quran, without compromising any of the teachings, or damaging the integrity of any of these verses in either book. However, the study found disharmony between Christian and Islamic religious traditions. The book also exposes the barriers erected by Christian and Islamic religious traditions, which have kept Christian and Muslim brothers apart for the past 1,300 years.
Walter Phillips has studied the Bible and early civilizations for the past thirty years, and the Quran for the past seven. He has spent the past twenty years investigating evidence and designing solutions to problems. With four university degrees, several professional affiliations, and 30 years of research, Walter Phillips presents his findings in a remarkably conversational style.
In my opinion, the most important lesson from studying history is: never be afraid to re-examine the evidence in order to learn or verify the truth. We should never be afraid to critically examine claims of truth, for truth should be able to withstand rigorous scrutiny. Walter Phillips BSc, BEng, MASc, MURP, CEng, MIStructE, MIHT, MCSCE, MBAPE

The Bible does teach!
Muslims deny the last three items on the list. They do teach that he performed many miracles; I'm not sure if they would agree that He raise the dead. Once you deny the crucifixion and resurrection, nothing else matters anyway.
What nonsense. The two religions and worlds cannot come together as one. Obviously centuries of Christian persecution in Islamic countries is not enough evidence to you.
IIA Tears Down Muslim Students Association Argument

He has been banned. Probably some Islamist playing games.
They are not different entities, the Muslims just chose the wrong brother.
Gen 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
You said — “They are not different entities, the Muslims just chose the wrong brother.”
—
They must be different entities, because on the one hand, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob says that the Jews in Israel will be a nation before Him forever.
The other one (the one from Abraham and Ishmael) says that all the Jews will be killed (and instructs his followers to kill Jews).
Those are two different entities. The One is our Creator God, while the other one (of Islam) has the same characteristics as Satan. So, it appears that the “two entities” are “God” and “Satan” — which make perfect sense.
Don’t think I’ll do that. I prefer to expose the lies of Islam... :-)
Isaac was the father of the Jewish and gentile nations...
Ishmael was the father of the arabs and islam.
You seem to be missing the entity which is described by Islam, which does not happen to match the characteristics and attributes of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
I see one God, our Creator God, as described in the Word of God, the Bible — and then I see a completely different entity, which is described in the Koran and what the prophet Mohammed said.
Those two are not “one entity” but are two completely different entities... and those two entities are *totally antagonistic* towards one another...
I would say, that by “description” of the two entities given (by each of their “Scriptures” (i.e., the Bible and then the Koran and Mohammed) — that one entity is God and the other entity described is Satan...

The Quran says to strike off the heads, strike off the hands of the unbelievers.
Guess what, they consider Christians to be unbelievers.
Even says so in their toilet paper book babbled to the masses by mad moHAMed.
(And to top it off, he had several different versions of the quran ‘spoken’ before anyone bean writing it down. Odd? According to md MoHAMed, the arabs had ‘better memory’ and thus would be able to remember the quran faithfully. That’s why there’s three main translations of what some old dude remembered hearing...)
And, according to quran, it’s okay to force yourself on a female captive as long as you give her three days to mourn her presumably deceased husband.
I can dig up the Surahs for you later on when I have the time if you like.
Hey, rasheemo, CaptainAF... you muzzy trolls have been quite qiet for awhile, did I scare you off?
If the quran teaches Jesus Christ is the messiah, then the remaining folderol about Mohammed and the other imams (including the “missing” 12th) is what?
Looking for similarities is easy. Understanding them apparently is beyond the author.
