Vatican Researcher Claims to Have Found Text on Shroud of Turin

A Vatican researcher claims she found nearly invisible text on the Shroud of Turin that includes the words “Jesus Nazarene” and mention of a death sentence.

Barabara Frale, who makes the claim in a new book, says the faint writing emerged through a computer analysis of photos of the shroud, which is not normally accessible for study.

Frale believes the text – a jumble of Greek, Latin and Aramaic – was written on a document by a clerk to identify the body and that the ink had seeped into the cloth.

Despite the historian’s claim, skeptics, not surprisingly, were quick to maintain that the shroud is a medieval forgery.

Frale is a researcher at the Vatican archives.

I doubt there was a scribe up on Calvary so what century did she think this ink soaked through and how does that prove anything one way or another?

Sure it didn’t say “ FRANK ZAPPA was here.” So called figure looks exactly like Frank Zappa. The Holy Bible says Jesus looked like an ordinary Jew at that time, which no doubt didn’t look like Frank Zappa!

I suggest you read the Gospel of John (19:19-20):

“Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.’ Many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.”

The scribe might just as easily have been at Calvary as not.

Why do you say that? The Romans were meticulous record keepers. Jerusalem was a tinder box and Pilate was under tight scrutiny by Rome and under strict orders to not let the situation get out of control.
