WHO'S WHO IN BIBLE PROPHECY (Who's Right and Who's Wrong)
Sound Christian.com ^ | 2006-2010 | Tim Osterholm

Posted on 02/13/2010 8:07:19 PM PST by bogusname

The individuals listed below are Christians (past and present) who are compassionate about their faith. Some are recognized pastors, scholars and teachers of Bible prophecy and eschatology (study of end-times) who also belong to various denominations. Also listed here are those from pseudo-Christian organizations (so-called Christian groups that adhere to doctrines outside mainstream Christianity). This comprehensive list of individuals is meant to help you identify sound teaching on Bible prophecy and prophecy topics only. Some have devoted their entire lives to teaching Bible prophecy. Not all are always in agreement, and not all are sound in their doctrines. Therefore, study for yourselves, and use this as a guide only.

Though there are many good prophecy teachers, some should be avoided. With that in mind, remember that we are commanded to pray for those whom we take issue with. Please don't confuse this list with those who claim to be prophets or those with prophetic revelations, dreams, visions or other so-called inspired prophecies.

The below "apple" rating is solely for the teaching of Bible prophecy and prophecy topics, not for individual ministries or personal lives of those listed. You might find some listed here who teach sound Bible prophecy, yet to support other doctrines you disagree with. Their teaching on other important Bible doctrines should not necessarily be confused with the comments here. "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding." Proverbs 4:7.

" As they so eagerly and liberally throw rocks. "

As in ? the self righteous religious Pharisees ?
They also didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah and crucified him.
Just beware of those who attack those who proclaim that Jesus Christ is THE ONLY WAY to heaven, because, they rely on their own self righteous works and deeds to obtain salvation.

Great list.

Accurate from my perspective, although I haven’t closely looked at Walter Martin, I did have a more favorable impression of his theology, although not based upon his eschatology. I’m also a little more positive on Jack Van Impe, although the criticism levied might be valid.

INDEED.

Excellent points on all counts, imho.

Sometimes I don’t know if it’s Jack Van Impe’s . . . zeal . . . or if he really is . . . quite convinced . . . about his own press releases.

"A true list of what? Party line pop dispensationalists, is what it looks like."

That's exactly what it is. Athough I don't necessrily agree with all of what a preterist like Ken Gentry says, he makes a better case for his position than any of the futurists on the list.

"I like Sproul, though I disagree with him on the preterist thing. His book on holiness is great."

Sproul is a "semi-preterist". He still believes in the future return of Christ. And I agree with you, although I don't agree with all his views on eschatology, he is brilliant reformed theologian.

Many, many years ago I called into Hal Linsdey’s radio show. I asked him why Christians ignored that the only place the busy little fingers put Easter in the Bible instead of the word actually used Passover. He told me if was for the children, so as to not be left out of all the hunting eggs, and dressing up that Easter has come to be.

Even Paul, which some have unsoundly used to dream up a rapture theory says we are to ICorinthians 5:7-8 keep the passover, and Paul never ever kept the holiday of Easter.

Christ Himself quotes Daniel in Matthew 24:21 and the very next utterance penned is Matthew 24:22 And except those *days* be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: *but* for the elect’s sake those *days* shall be shortened....

But all I keep hearing/reading is 7 years, 7 years,.......

I could go on and on and on and on wherein unsound doctrine has been produced that ignores the instruction Scripture gives from the ‘beginning’... Genesis 1:1 all the way through Revelation 22:21.

Christ did say these things need be.

No, you’re simply not taking into account your state of confusion. Figure that in as well and then it will make perfectly good sense.

Any list that puts a green smiley by the likes of Chuck Missler and UFO paranoiac L. A. Marzulli, and a big red frownie beside R. C. Sproul, should be rethought. Discarded. Mocked.

Then I suppose the list is just like you, right in some things and wrong in others. By your own judgment you should be “discarded and mocked.” Matthew 7:2 “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” :-)

Well don't stop at verse 2.... keep on reading to get to what we ARE to do... and how about that part Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto ME, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the *will* of My Father Which is in heaven.... Many will say to ME in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not *prophesied in Thy name????

and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works?'

AND (just like that AND in Genesis 1:2 continuation of the subject) then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from ME, ye that work iniquity.'

You think 'the' Adam and Eve shared 'little green apples'?

Promises propmises...sigh. You told me last time you were done talking to me. You just can’t keep your word can you? :-)

You can preach false doctrine from now until Judgment Day and you still won’t be right about there being more than one Adam and Eve. The Bible is true as written. Yes, they did eat off the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Bible says they did. End of story.

Really now, think maybe you can reproduce that claim?

You can preach false doctrine from now until Judgment Day and you still won’t be right about there being more than one Adam and Eve. The Bible is true as written. Yes, they did eat off the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Bible says they did. End of story.

I never said there was more than 'one' 'the' Adam and Eve, what I said was there was more than 'the' Adam and Eve, created/formed that represents all the children of the Heavenly Father.... See now DNA demonstrates there is NO way all of the Heavenly Father's children could have possibly come from only two initial flesh beings.... What the evidence of DNA is against Scripture, ha, no it agrees with Scripture....

Some helpful material there, thanks.

Nothing drives some of my fellow-Reformeds crazy as quickly is the convicting sight of someone who, unlike them, applies Reformation principles to Biblical prophecy as well — rather than simply re-working and defending Rome’s gutting of it.

Missing Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin Sr, Rod Parsley, Lester Sumrall, NT Wright... etc etc. Just curious where you’d rate them. Used to be a Dispy myself, now just one of those “we’ll see what happens” types. John 3:16 says it all for me.
