When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask him, Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else? Jesus replied, Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me. (Matthew 11:2-6)

Dear Father, we thank You that You have given us the privilege of bringing our petitions to You, the God of all the earth.
Lord, we pray for the men and women in our military, that You would bless them and their families through this Christmas season. May they have joy in the coming of Christ.
Father, we pray for those who are unemployed and seeking jobs. We ask that You would provide them with work that will support them and their families.
Lord, when You came among us, You preached the good news to the poor. You made the blind see, the lame walk, and the deaf hear; You cured those who had leprosy and raised the dead. You gave rest to the weary, and made our peace through the Cross. You are the one who was to come, the one God promised of olda light shining for those in great darkness, the sun of righteousness with healing in its wings. We praise You for Your merciful and powerful acts among us, and we say our prayers in Your Name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Risky Business
December 10, 2011
On some of the Christmas cards you will receive this year, no doubt there will be a man standing in the background looking over the shoulder of Mary, who is prominently displayed caring for the baby Jesus. His name is Joseph. And after the nativity narratives, he isnt heard from much again. If we didnt know better, we would think Joseph was an insignificant bystander or, at best, a mere necessity to undergird Jesus claim to the throne of David.
But, in fact, the role that Joseph played was strategically important. If he had disobeyed the angels command to take Mary as his wife (Matt. 1:20), he would have, from a human perspective, put the entire mission of Jesus at risk. Taking Mary as his wife was a risky assignment. Public perception that he was the babys father put him in serious violation of Jewish law and made him a public disgrace. Yet today all of us are thankful that he was willing to risk his reputation to participate in and facilitate Gods unfolding drama.
Most of us are insignificant compared to the major players in this world. But all of us are called to obey. Who knows what God has in store when we are willing to surrender to Gods willeven when it puts us at risk!
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey. Sammis
Then Joseph . . . did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.
Matthew 1:24

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.
In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your healing wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.

Thank you for praying. May God bless your Christmas preparations and fill you with the joy of His coming.
At that time Jesus said, I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure." (Matthew 11:25-26)
