Bishop Paprocki: “Christians have to mentally adjust…it’s a pagan kind of a culture”

Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois recently did an interview with the Washington Times in which he lamented what he calls the “rupture” in the relationship between Church and culture:

“We [Christians] have to mentally adjust. I know it is an adjustment for me because – and I assume for many other people as well - because I grew up in this country at a time when the values in our secular world mirrored the values of the religious world,” Bishop Paprocki said. “And I think what’s happening now is that relationship – that symbiosis between our culture and the church – has been ruptured.

Paprocki compares today’s situation in the U.S. to Christians being persecuted under Communist regimes and even in ancient times.

“We [Christians] find ourselves now – just in this short period of time - where the early Christians found themselves in the Roman Empire. So the church in 2,000 years, we started out as being a persecuted faith, with Constantine being an accepted established faith, then for centuries, kind of moving in that direction that had this close relationship between the secular world’s values and Judeo-Christian values,” Bishop Paprocki said. “And now I think we are moving in a direction that – not only is it more than secular – it’s a rejection. It’s an outright rejection [of Judeo-Christian values]. It’s a pagan kind of a culture.”

“The reality is that – ironically, it is becoming more like the Church was in the time of John Paul II in Poland under Communism where you [Christians] lived in a very hostile environment. We still have the First Amendment of our Constitution but that is being sorely tested.”

Adjust?

I’ll adjust my sights! I hope that’s what he means.

If the clergy of this church spent more time preaching the free enterprise and Commandment-compliant lessons of the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew chapter 20), and less time preaching the social justice gospel of Marx, the culture would not have slid as farm.

Also, if this church had upheld its own teachings with respect to publicly shaming members who use their public office to undermine and oppose the sanctity of life, we would not be where we are today, irrespective of how good a Christian that Nancy Pelosi considers herself to still be.

“Christians have to mentally adjust…it’s a pagan kind of a culture” he says as he wears the priests hat of the priest of the fish god dagon.

All you need to do is search on dagon priest and you will see they wore that same hat. The RCC incorporated lot’s of pagan symbols to attract pagans into Christianity. Catholicism is an amalgamation of pagan and Christian.

I’m wondering if the folks in arms will not rise up against the oncoming tyranny.

Those who preach “another gospel” are not fellow Christians.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

Did the apostles teach the assumption of Mary, praying to saints, or the perpetual virginity of Mary? The RCC preaches another gospel.

It is a silly claim. There is no solid evidence that the papal mitre was used before about the 10th century, and it probably originated in Rome. The dagon cult was an ancient Middle Eastern cult, and I doubt there were many dagon believers waiting to be converted in 10th century Rome. Even if the hat resembles a dagon hat, there is no link between the two nor any implied worship of an ancient fish god.

Catholics do not preach another Gospel.

What do you know about the Assumption of Mary? All the Apostles were bi-located to her bedside as she died.

I know you won’t believe this, but it IS written down.

The Catholics gave you the Bible. Be thankful.

"Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you"  (Jn 6:53).

Of course not. Nor are any of the other pagan beliefs, vestments, and symbols used by the RCC. It’s all just a coincidence. Right?

it is becoming more like the Church was in the time of John Paul II in Poland under Communism where you [Christians] lived in a very hostile environment.

This is why I think the Fatima - Russia Consecration to the Immaculate Heart was never done properly. Although Russia itself has reduced or eliminated its persecution of Christianity and even in some respects encourages it, the old Russia still continues to "spread her errors".

Misinterpreted, taken out of context, anti-Catholic press, Catholic haters coming out of the woodwork.

Am I missing any?
