I was in the process of writing a blog post about parenthood on the occasion of my oldest sons birthday and I wanted to finish by quoting St. Paul in scripture so I hit my bookmarks to the psalms as the quickest way to access the Bible on the Vatican and got this message
My first thought was they finally fixed The Psalm section which was a pain in the neck so I went to my base link on the blog, clicked on the Bible which goes to the index page and got the same thing.
I figured the Vatican site might be down but when I clicked on it, it came up normally so I looked for the link to the bible and didnt see it where it had been before. Looking at the main page I found a reference link which had a page with a link to the Catechism of the Catholic Church , Canon law and some new links I hadnt seen before including COMPENDIUM OF THE SOCIAL DOCTRINE OF THE CHURCH written by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. But at the top of the list was The Bible. So I clicked on the link figured Id have to update my bookmarks and saw this .

“We’ve switched to the Holy Koran. Please make a note of it.”
Yup, that sounds right.
Frank the Pretender will be growing a beard any day now.
Wow. “Episcopal Congress”?
Soon to be replaced by an annotated copy of Marx’s Das Kapital?
Jesus, are you just around the corner?
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
Well we cant have catholics reading the Bible for themselves.
That old junk just kept getting in the way anyhow
We don’t need the Bible, we have Team Francis to tell us what it says and means
The Vatican doesn’t care what happens to the Bible. They’re not using it.
Good catch - here is the Wayback machine search results, going back 16 years.

Such a statement smacks of calumny. They are not jettisoning Holy Scripture. They are telling people to access the Scripture from the local Episcopal Conference. This was probably done because providing copies in all local languages was not practical.
What is more of concern to me is the statement about translations which to me could me you could have different translations (leading to various interpretations) from different conferences. There should be a central reference point for Scripture study even if it is not on the Vatican’s website.
The Catechism is still there with all its references to Scripture.
“Well we cant have catholics reading the Bible for themselves.”
Oh, get a clue.

You probably already found this elsewhere, but may I suggest Ephesians 6?
It is quite balanced, because, although it admonishes children to obey their parents, it also tells fathers not to “exasperate” their children.
Well, since the catholic church has already changed the scripture in the Bible to suit them, I’d say it makes little difference.
The Catholic church never had the true Bible in the first place so it really doesn’t matter.
Perhaps you should read the history of the assembly of the Bible. It was the Catholic Church who assembled it, and it was Luther who made changes, namely declaring certain books non-Canonical.
Was that the change to which you were referring?
Is that so? Who had the “true Bible” then? The Gnostics? The Lutherans? Oh wait, Lutherans and other Protestants didn’t show up until the 1500s, 1100 years AFTER the canon of scripture was closed.
Serious charges require serious evidence. What evidence do you provide to support your claim?
