Vanity: Is Laura Bush of Mexican Descent?
An un-named Mexican National
| colorcountry

A Mexican National just came into my office to see if I wanted to sell one of our company trucks. He noticed the RNC picture of President and Mrs. Bush hanging in a prominent place on my wall.
You know, Mrs. Bush is Mexican, he said.
He continued with a story about her absent Mexican father. He even told me the town he hailed from (but I couldnt understand his broken English.)
I dont know about Lauras heritage, but I thought it interesting that this is what he believed. Is this a widespread urban legend amongst the Mexicans? Is there any truth to the legend?
It doesnt matter one way of the other. I just wondered what freepers know or have heard...

I'm of Welsh descent. What does it matter as long as we are Americans?

I don't care either, I just thought it was interesting. It looks as if he has confused Laura with Jeb Bush's wife.

Who cares, and why? I would seem that the President would receive some positive support from the hispanic community if THEY believed it. I already said it doesn't matter to me. By the way...I'm euro-American (LOL) but I'm married to a hispanic so don't go trying to pin a bigot label on me.

His name was Harold Bruce Welch and he died at 82. Sounds kind of Mexican to me. His real name was probably Geraldo.

We can't make the mistake of assuming that LULAC actually speaks for the entire community.
I wasn't trying to pin a label on you. My question was more rhetorical than actual.

There were a lot posts questioning my motives, so I thought I'd set the record straight.
I wonder if I would have gotten the same type of responses if I asked if her father was a babtist, or a lawyer, or a Scot, or a farmer etc, etc...?
