Hussein the Conqueror  Is Saddam Hussein the Reincarnation of the Chaldean Emperor Nebuchadnezzar? Is it his destiny to sack Jerusalem, destroy Israel, and kill and capture the Jews?
There's an evil megalomaniac in Iraq, and he seems to be itching for a war with America. Evidence is mounting which implicates Saddam Hussein in the anthrax attacks on the United States, as well as the bloody attacks of 9/11. Why would he do this…? Good Post. It jogged my memory of an article I cut out for a history project during college - which I just found. The April 19, 1989 edition of the Minneapolis Star Tribune had an article titled "Babylon restoration helps Hussein build his case." Basically the article laid out two years prior to the Gulf War that this guy viewed himself as the 2nd coming of Nebuchadnezzar and was rebuilding the ancient sites throughout the country.

The interesting paragraph in the article both in light of history and the present is this:

"But Hussein's glorification of ancient Babylon is disturbing to his neighbors, diplomats say. For the king whose palace he is rebuilding ruled an empire from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean, embracing what now are Kuwait, Syria, Jordan, Israel and parts of Saudia Arabia."

Boy, you can't swing a dead cat in the Middle East without hitting some nutcase claiming to be some past or present biblical character.

They're only looking at part of the picture because Saddam does have a communist intellectual foundation. But, though he came to power in the 70s as a client of Leonid Brezhnev, Stalin was his idol.

he coincidences of the appearance of the pics of Hussein with the British boy and of Stalin in the poster in the article above are not simply by chance. That whole thing was Hussein's publicity stunt. He had control of the cameras and the angles.

Check it out... the boy with Saddam has the same haircut as the boy with the violin in the poster of Stalin!

But Hussein's Obsession with Nebuchadnezzar is paramount.

I think you have understood Saddam Hussien's personality, there are questions that we still do not have answered. What is his son like? What are the implications of his meglomania interacting with the meglomania of Ossama? I expect there would be a period of extreme cooperation sort of like Il Duce and the Furher.Saddam is getting older and we have no info on his physical health how will that affect things?

Dura. the circle, the plain near Babylon in which Nebuchadnezzar set up a golden image, mentioned in Dan. 3:1. The place still retains its ancient name. On one of its many mounds the pedestal of what must have been a colossal statue has been found. It has been supposed to be that of the golden image.

Al Daura is located just south of Baghdad. Same place?

Chaldea is southern Iraq.

There is evidence in the Bible that Nebuchadnezzar will return in a "ressurected" body, to use scriptural terminology. Saddam is not Nebuchadnezzar, but he is preparing the way for Nebuchadnezzar's return as the antchrist.

Revelation 17:10,11"[10] And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. [11] And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition."

The beast was. Now he is not(dead). But he is coming. He is the eighth king(future) and is of the seven kings(past) with the name of blasphemy.

Saddam does not prosper in his reign, so he is not Nebuchadnezzar. He is the leader who will stumble, fall and not be found IMO.

Daniel 11"[19] Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found."

Saddam was quoted on CNN in 1990 or '91 saying that if he was defeated "you won't even get one piece of my finger" to the U.S. So eventually Saddam will be defeated, though it will be an awful battle where many shall fall, according to Daniel.

[20]"Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle."

The interim ruler raises taxes and dies after a short time. [21]"And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries." Then comes the vile person, who is Nebuchadnezzar in his resurrected body.

Daniel 4"[36] At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellers and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me." "[37]Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase."

Nebuchadnezzar recognized the God of heaven(and God revealed himself to Neb on several occasions). However, there is no record of repentance on behalf of Nebuchadnezzar though God dealt with him. Had Nebuchadnezzar repented he would have returned the vessels to the temple that he had stolen and would have allowed the Jews to worship at the temple. So Nebuchadnezzar died wickedly. And he shall return wickedly.

I realize that there are many opposing views on Bible prophecy, but I think you hit on something very interesting here. I hope you don't mind me sharing a bit of what I've been studying for about the last seven years. :)
