Article fails to mention the “conservatives” sampled had just finished their daily dose of crystal meth.

This poll is total bs.

Jeb Bush. Right. So, is Lenin the conservative here or is it Trotsky? I’d better let the media make my choice for me.

Simply, the process happens without interference from the Omnipotent Force. The usual nomination process for all parties, and a “normal” election.

For the late entrants here, a hypothetical choice:

1) Jeb Bush wins the 2016 election for sure, guaranteed by a Higher Power, or

2) A “normal” election with no Higher Power interference

Which would you choose?

The only real ‘front runner’ I hear nothing from is Nikki Hayley, who is quite busy these days being Governor. I’m starting to think, Ms Haley may be laying low until perhaps late summer of 2015, or early autumn. Only then will she publicly entertain any Presidential or Vice Pres. aspirations.

Nikki is not someone we’ve already seen too much of like Christie, but presents herself very well. Stay Tuned. She needs to hide her ambitions in a bushel basket for later, because Lindsay Graham fancies if South Carolina is going to produce a candidate for the white house, it will be him. Better for Nikki to wait a few months for Lindsay to get this out of his system.

If we settle on one good conservative and let Bush and Romney split the GOPe we have a possibility of getting the nomination.

The only way that would happen is if the conservative politicians interested in running held a private meeting, took an oath of silence, then conducted a straw poll among themselves to select 2 of them to serve as our conservative Pres/VP candidates against the #%$@ RINOs.

After their vote, the REST of them would have to consolidate, form a cohesive group, and get behind the 2 people who were picked to save our country from these freakin' Communists who are destroying it.

It won't happen. A meeting like that would require all of them to check their ego at the door and put our country first. The ONLY way I could see this happening is if Rush, Levin, Hannity, et al started pushing for it publicly. Otherwise, it remains a pipe dream I've had for years.

The manipulation from the media is starting EARLY this time around!

And you can bet the online social media/FR/etc. manipulation will be worse than ever before. They are sooo close to their precious 'Revolution' against capitalism and our Constitution, or at least they THINK they are, that they will do anything they can to split conservatives again so a RINO can be the candidate.

Anyone have any ideas on how to pick ONE conservative candidate NOW to primary the DemLite RINO who will be anointed? Other than to publicly ask the conservative candidates to do it themselves? Because otherwise, we'll be condemned to watch our Republic crash and burn, even if by some miracle the RINO won over the Democrat.

IMHO, only way a Cruz type candidate wins in 2016 is ONE conservative against 2 or more so called moderates (Mitt, Jeb & Chris)

Yeah. What YOU said!

1) Name recognition. These are the candidates whose name people know. Nobody has over 16% in the poll. Is it really so unrealistic to believe that 15% of Republicans might recognize Romney's or Bush's name and give it back to the pollster?

2) Something like 70% of Republicans identify themselves as conservatives. That amounts to millions of people. It would be a far larger group than those who, say, would never vote for Bush or Romney because they think them insufficiently conservative. A larger group than people who participate in any Internet political forum, I'd say.

3) Some people who consider themselves conservatives don't vote for the ideologically pure fringe candidates. Indeed, some free marketeers or libertarian types would vote for a mainstream Republican before they'd vote for a strong social conservative, and some social conservatives would prefer a more moderate candidate to someone of a very pronounced libertarian bent. Add up Republican voters who aren't conservative with those who are moderately conservative, those who are looking for a winner, and those who dislike somebody too identified with another branch of conservatism, and the results of the poll aren't surprising.
