When the home team suffers an unexpected and startling defeat on its own field, fans and commentators will most likely take notice. And thats just whats happening today as the GOP front-runner for the 2016 presidential nomination, Donald Trump, scores a big win in a state where a rival or two could certainly be considered favorite sons.
The website Florida Politics reports on what it calls the shock poll that finds Trump leading Jeb Bush by a significant margin in Florida, the state where George W.s younger brother served as a very popular governor from 1999-2007.
According to the just-released St. Pete Polls survey of more than 1900 likely GOP primary voters in the Sunshine State:
For the first time this year, Donald Trump tops a state poll of GOP presidential candidates in Florida.
A St. Pete Polls survey released on Wednesday shows the New York businessman with 26 percent support, with Jeb Bush in second place with 20 percent.
And what about Marco Rubios standing in the newly released survey of GOP voters? The senator from Florida is also found to be trailing Trump. Rubio places fourth in the new poll with 10 percent of the respondents backing him. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker came in third with 12 percent.
What many observers and analysts of presidential politics might find equally if not more surprising are the results of a different voter poll one conducted by the left-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP). In this national survey, Donald Trump has a higher favorability rating than any of his GOP competitors among Latinos who were questioned July 20-21 about their candidate preferences.
According to MRC-TV coverage of this survey of 1,087 registered voters of Hispanic heritage, Trump scored a favorability rating of 34 percent. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, who one might think would hold an advantage with Latinos because of their backgrounds, were close behind with 30 percent and 29 percent, respectively. Jeb Bush, whose wife hails from Mexico and who frequently delivers campaign messages in fluent Spanish, won 31 percent of the Latino vote in this PPP poll.
You may recall that, as Western Journalism reported, Donald Trump has confidently said he would win the Latino vote should he become the nominee of the party. Trump has made that prediction several times, despite the fact that he continues to generate heated controversy over his campaign-launching remarks about dangerous, criminal aliens illegally entering the United States.
Trump Shmump. Trump’s true intentions are not trustworthy and as for restoration of our republic they are irrelevant. It is clear that he will NOT do the heavy lifting required on social issues and I believe a rather profound pundit reminds us that culture trumps politics ALWAYS. He has neither the ability nor the inclination to do what’s necessary to save the republic. I wish it weren’t so believe me.
As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.
Patriots need to bear the following in mind about who they nominate for the Oval Office. Not only does the conservative nominee need to be receptive to patriots getting them up to speed on the federal governments constitutionally limited powers, but the nominee also needs to be willing to work with patriots to peacefully force” the corrupt feds to surrender 10th Amendment-protected state powers which the feds been stealing from the states for many generations back to the states.
Otherwise, its just a matter of time before somebody as lawless as Obama is in the Oval Office again.
Jeb Bush gives hope to establishment loyalists striving for mediocrity.
While Trump’s political leanings can be confusing, his American leanings are clearly defined ...unlike much of the beltway and media society.
agree...dont think folks can call Trump a traitor.
Frankly I am more worried about my 2 recent college graduates from university of Washington (27th best rated in the world) finding jobs suitable to their skills than any other issue. Without a job,all other issues become irrelevant.
Dios mio!/
Had to look up what your post meant.
Oh my God?
Ay Dios mio!(oh my God)
El Hebe’s reaction.
:)
That’s an important point and I share the same concerns with my kids in college. I would still submit that the roots of that problem are a consequence of our nation’s social disintegration. The vast majority of the population is ignorant as to the nature of our enemies which are quite real. They have promoted our ongoing societal collapse since the founding. In our current state of national disunity we are effectively powerless to defend our way of life. Our enemies watch closely and are biding their time. Their time is almost here. There will be no “employers” requiring job applicants after the coming gobsmack as we are now vulnerable on every front. I’m actually curious as what they’re waiting for.
I think vulgarization of social mores is probably a very small part why jobs are gone.
The major cause is foreign trade deficits with manufacturing behemoths like China and Japan. Also trade pacts like NAFTA have caused a slew of factories move to Mexico but non moved from Mexico to USA. That is why I was really shocked to see Cruz pushing Obamatrade.
Manufacturing is the biggest wealth creator. Any nation which loses manufacturing will find itself with sinking standards of living.
