This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.
If you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.
There was a tremendous amount of information posted on the previous thread. For anyone who hasn't been following the daily threads, links to relevant posts and information from the previous thread are contained in the body of the present one. I have found that very helpful in trying to find something later. You people are doing a spectacular job of getting information out and also in helping to keep all of us updated here. What a great joint effort. This fight, to me, illustrates beautifully what Free Republic is about and what it means to be a FReeper. Way to go FRiends. Keep up the good work!

At this time, Robert and Mary Schindler, Mrs. Schiavo's parents, have not filed a facially sufficient motion for relief from the order discontinuing life-prolonging procedures. Thus, in appellate case number 2D01-1836, we affirm the guardianship court's denial of the Schindlers' motion for relief from judgment because the motion filed was facially insufficient. On remand, however, we provide the Schindlers with an opportunity to file, if appropriate, a revised motion for relief from judgment pursuant to rule 1.540(b)(5) on the basis that it is no longer equitable that the order should have prospective application. We caution, however, that any proceeding to challenge a final order on this basis is extraordinary and should not be filed merely to delay an order with which an interested party disagrees or to retry an adversary proceeding. The interested party must establish that new circumstances make it no longer equitable to enforce the earlier order. In this case, if the Schindlers believe a valid basis for relief from the order exists, they must plead and prove newly discovered evidence of such a substantial nature that it proves either (1) that Mrs. Schiavo would not have made the decision to withdraw life-prolonging procedures fourteen months earlier when the final order was entered, or (2) that Mrs. Schiavo would make a different decision at this time based on developments subsequent to the earlier court order.
The opinion you posted was dated July 11, 2001. On Nov 15, 2002, the Schindler's delivered to Michael's attorneys a copy of their petition to remove Michael. The new petition states that Michael has squandered the money her money, refused to give her necessary medical treatment and has admitted on national TV to committing adultery.
Most honest people would agree that if Terri could fight for herself she would not allow her 'loving husband' to commit adultery at her life's expense.
That could turn up some new information. I think most people who have been searching have been focusing more on Florida. The Schiavos were from Levittown, PA. The Schindlers were from the same area, but I don't know if it was the same town.
What I'd be especially interested in knowing about is other relationships Michael may have had in PA.

Actually, that wasn't my comment. I believe it was Krodg's, and it was pretty funny in context. I fully supported its nomination for quote of the day, though! It was a pretty snappy comeback to a troll who was asking stupid questions on another thread.

I have been saying that for a long time. I also think that because Felos has had access to some of the money as a result of Schiavo having the okay to use it for legal costs, that there may be some untoward investment schemes in play as well. I would love to see someone dig up some information on that. Perhaps a little more investigation into Felos and his associates would be in order.
I did notice that in the portion you posted that it was said that the patient involved could respond to commands at some times. Based on that I would be very surprised if the patient was diagnosed as in a persistent vegetative state. Virtually all of the articles that have been posted to these threads that claim that patients have "returned" after a number of years have shown that they were not diagnosed as being in a PVS, but in a quasi vegetative state, or partial vegetative state, or in coma or deep coma. Usually this discrepancy is attributible to the lay-author or sometime to a family member or friend. Othertimes it has been a deliberate mistatement by someone out to try to prove a point.
I noticed the reference to "four years" in the first paragraph. If this is the period of first injury until some sort of recovery on the part of this patient, I would point out that four years duration is far short of the more than thirteen years that Terri has been in PVS.

Are you intimating that I made up this statement? It is taken directly from the Second DCA's published opinion.
Further, there was another hearing held in the circuit court where this very fact was re-visited. New scans were obtained which again revealed this condition. All of the experts agreed that Terri had suffered extensive and irreparible damage to her cerebral cortex. The only debate between the expert's, including those brought forward by the Schindlers', was whether she has a small amount of isolated living tissue in her cerebral cortex or whether she has no living tissue in her cerebral cortex. This was again affirmed by the appellate court.
Additionally, in what I would agree was bad taste, one of the frames of Terri's brain scan that was presented in court, was exhibited on the Larry King show. This clearly showed a void in Terri's skull where her cerebral cortex should have been.
I don't think there is any medical doctor anywhere that would say that one can recover from a loss of the cerebral cortex.
I think she was originally out of her league, but with the help of other more experienced attorneys, I think she has improved enormously. When I first saw her on television, she wasn't that good an advocate for Terri. Now, she seems to be very effective in front of the media. She's growing as an attorney and will probably become one of the best in Florida in cases like this. I think all the email, letters, and phone calls from the public have helped her become re-energized.

We know MS's second child with Jodie Centonze was born on or around Oct 31st, 2003
If the article is accurate it proves that MS has fathered three illegitimate children!
