When Rove said 'trust us, we have a good agenda' and they get people upset about it, they should by all means hammer him when the calls start coming in. Don't you see this as a good thing?

The "base" has made itself irrelevant in presidential politics staring in 1992 with Perot, in 1996 with Perot again and staying at home and in 2000 with PJB and staying at home to the tune of 4 million” true conservatives". Bush may lose this election but he will either lose it or win it without the "base" because once again the "base" is acting as an opposition party. Win or lose, the "base" loses big time.

again, it's good that this came up during a closed door convention rather than on the floor of the House, where you suggest it take place. Hopefully, it won't come to a public showdown, as you are suggesting. With any favor, the WH will moderate their policy to the right after this.

I'm part of President Bush's base, as are my 5 sisters, and about 40 voting age nieces/nephews/cousins. I haven't been polled and neither have they, but were that to happen, we would NOT be a part of that decline in support. All of us strongly support his re-election.
