***Operation 4 More Years - Situation Room - Day 1 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 2 November 2004 | Various

Posted on 11/02/2004 2:48:56 AM PST by An.American.Expatriate

As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads.  I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .

The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion.  Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

Both major parties have members on you local election board, and they are always strong party loyalists. So, both parties approve the ballot. They probably alternate GOP/Dem candidate 1st/2nd year after year.

Oh dear! My first vote for President was in 1956 for Eisenhower!

At least Ike wasn't running against a sleazebag. Stevenson just wasn't up to the job of being President (the well-meaning but incompetent President in "Dr. Strangelove" was based on Stevenson) but he wasn't a sleazebag like You-Know-Who.

Just voted in Raleigh, NC. Waited about an hour.

Interesting things - Move0n Pac person wearing a red arm band monitoring the line; NAACP table set up to "remind" people about their rights; and since judges' political persuasion is not listed on the ballot anymore - a lady was passing out "recommendations" to people in line (of course the recommendations were the democrat judges).

I hate to say it but.....

While I was at the pole the worker tearing off the ballott sheet was ripping about 10% of the ballots. She couldn't get them off the tablet. Also people were returning ballots that they had mis-marked (spoiled) and were getting hew ones.

I'll say that there will be big problems by this afternoon in most places when they run out of ballots.

Just got done voting, went there at 6:45 a.m. I am at Purdue University which is a pretty conservative college, there was already a line of students (not big) but for college students to form a line or hell to even be up at 6:30 is simply amazing, and like I said this is a conservative college, so looking good for Bush and For Mitch Daniels for Governor of Indiana.

I can't see here-to-fore slacker hordes of them standing in the rain for hours to vote for Kerry.

Stevenson was a very good man. But, I think the job would have overwhelmed him. Ike was definitely the better choice.

Terry Mc Awful, just said that Kerry is ahead in early voting in the battle ground states, and C-Span is admonishing people to accept the results.

This admonishment could have been issued long ago to Demonrats, but only now is peace and order called for?
That alone makes me nervous.

Liberals are such lunitics, fighting a unruly phantom conservative in their immaginations, who is going to take to the streets and over throw everyone's freedom, when in reality they should look in the mirror.

I often wonder if NY just has the fraud down to a science for the past 20 years.

They changed the election voting locations here without informing. People at our location were angry. Is it incompetence or on purpose? There isn't even a website for voters to log on to to get their correct voting location.

Thank you for calling :)!

That's against the law. Report her to the authorities.

One man (a Republican) discouraged me. His wife is an invalid - and can't get to the polls by herself. She is also a Democrat. HE won't take her. That's sad.

You know what? I don't blame him. I would NOT assist ANYONE who wants to vote to weaken our military, especially at a time of war, whether the person realizes that's what she would be voting for or not.

You have to stand up for what is right, and sometimes it's not easy.

It's sad that someone would let politics weaken their marriage bond.

That said, fortunately my wife is an even more staunch Republican than me!
