Urgent Prayer Request for my Brother (See update in post 364)
09/30/2005 | Self

Posted on 09/30/2005 6:03:00 AM PDT by Aracelis

My brother, Eric, will be attempting to get his children back legally from his estranged wife in a little more than 5 hours. He has not seen his children, Korin (age 10), Damon (aged 9), and Aaron (aged 8) in over a month, and they are his entire life.

My sister-in-law is an extremely disturbed individual with numerous psychiatric and physical problems, and ran away with the children one day while my brother was at work. He does not know where any of them are, has had no telephone contact, and has been searching frantically for them ever since.

Would you please pray that Eric can be reunited with his children, and that none of them come to any harm? Unfortunately, my brother lives in a state that automatically assumes the mother to be the better caretaker, but in this case I am hoping the judge will see otherwise.

Amen to what Aracelis said about the children.
God loves us and answers prayers in accordance with His Omniscient will for what is best. We will continue in prayer, and place our trust in Him.

Tuesday morning update:

My brother was supposed to talk on the telephone to his children yesterday evening, per the judge's order. My sister-in-law did not allow this to happen.

Eric is scheduled to meet with his children this Thursday, but I am frightened that my sister-in-law will make good on her threat that he will "never get the kids".

My fears are accentuated by a tidbit of news we received from one of her former co-workers. The day she left her job, the FBI and local law enforcement officers were called to the nursing home, where she worked as some sort of aide that could administer medications. Now when asked, the administrators at the nursing home will not acknowledge that my sister-in-law ever worked there.

Would you please remember the safety and protection of Damon, Aaron and Korin in your prayers? Thank you!

Prayers on the way. Maybe the judge could issue an emergency order for your son to get the children, maybe you brother's attorney could tell the judge that she may be getting to run, etc? I feel so bad for your brother and his children.

Very frightening. Damon, Aaron and Korin are prayed for, and will continue to be.

I will pray; but this is the time when your brother must take action THROUGH THE SYSTEM. He has to use whatever mechanisms of the court to make sure he has access to the kids and that the judge knows she is not allowing it.

You are absolutely correct, and his lawyer is working on this as I am typing.

I'm hopeful the judge will do something right away, but not knowing much about Wisconsin laws, I don't know what that might be. The judge was obviously displeased with Angela, and I'm sure this recent development will not endear her either.

Still in our thoughts and prayers!

The advice about going thru the system is frustrating but necessary. We're in that same spot, but my son's attorney says when the court is leaning towards a change of custody (ie your SIL to your brother) they proceed very carefully to dot all the i's and cross all the t's. My DIL is also blocking access despite what she has been ordered to do, but we can hope that by your SIL being uncooperative she is giving herself enough rope to hang her with the court and Child Protective Service people. We pray that the kids are able to hand in there till the court makes the right moves!
Love and prayers to you, your brother & the kids!!

I hope your brother's lawyer has contacted the FBI. He will probably not get information from them, but in my mind it is urgent that he gives information to them. Do you have any idea at all why the feds were looking at her? Could her coworker be mistaken about the agency--could it have been DEA, instead of the fibs?

Continued prayers from Michigan.

I don't know if these organizations were looking for her, but it seems a bit too coincidental. I'm really hampered by being in Colorado while these events are taking place in Wisconsin, but will pass along your intuition...thank you!

I am sorry about the bad news, Aracelis. I hope there is something that can be done to make your SIL abide by the judge's orders to allow your brother access to the children. I can't imagine that her actions won't benefit his case in the long run.

The fact that LE were called to her place of employment on the day she left work is scary, especially considering her job description.

Continuing to pray for the whole situation, and particularly the children. God bless you all.

As frightening as it may be, your sister-in-law's refusal to allow him to speak to the children, despite the court order, will help your brother's case. Judges do not appreciate having their orders ignored.

In Florida, it is presumed to be in the best interests of the child to have a relationship with both parents. Any parent who tried to interfere with the relationship of the other is looked up with strong disfavor. He should definitely record in a journal any attempts to contact the children with time and date and the result. I agree that his attorney should make the judge aware of her behavior.

Prayers are going up for him and the children right now!

To: 2nd amendment mama; 4woodenboats; 80 Square Miles; 8mmMauser; AKA Elena; Alamo-Girl; ...

Dear bothers and sisters, Eric finally got to see his children last evening with their grandfather…and I was able to speak briefly with Aaron and Damon on the telephone.

I cannot begin to relate the emotions that fill my heart, nor could any words suffice. My gratitude is boundless to our Lord, and profound to all of you…my willing prayer partners and caring brothers and sisters.

Angela was not supposed to be at their meeting, but she came anyway to speak with Eric. She told him it was never her intention to get a divorce and that she loves him, but just wanted some attention from him. Unbeknownst to her though, Eric spent 2-1/2 hours talking to her pastor earlier in the day. The pastor said that for the past few months, their little church has been giving Angela thousands of dollars for things like heating oil, food, etc. Eric told him that all he heard about was $40.00 for gasoline.

The pastor was, to say the least, stunned and said he needed to think about things. But he stressed that God does not like divorce, and that the pastor would like to see Eric and Angela work things out.

In court last week, Angela told the judge that Eric was guilty of abusing the children and locking them in closets for days on end. She also said she was afraid for her life, which was why she took the kids and ran.

I find all this very hard to believe, because Eric’s first wife shot at him (and missed, thank God), spent some time in jail for the assault, and yet Eric never once raised a hand to her…and she admits that he never abused her.

For the record, Eric has gotten in touch with numerous agencies in Wisconsin to help him out with energy costs for the home, food, and Medicaid for himself and the children. Eric does work, and he works very hard, but doesn’t make enough money by himself to support the household. Angela receives a significant amount monthly from the U.S. Army for some sort of disability (which we have never been able to nail her down about), and together they were able to make ends meet.

I have agreed to pay for psychological evaluations for Eric, Angela, and the children so the Guardian ad Litem will have enough information to make a quality recommendation to the court for custody. You would not believe how much this will cost, and it will take all I have saved for tuition and my own future needs. I happily offer these resources to the Lord and I know He will provide for whatever I need, when I need it.

I have warned Eric that as soon as Angela realizes that her plans to get back together with him will not bear fruit, that the unpleasant person he saw in court last week will reappear. He is ready for this.

I deeply and humbly appreciate all of your continuing prayers for my brother and his children. Thank you all so very, very much! I pray for God’s richest blessings upon each of you.

I will keep praying for a positive resolution for Eric and the children.

It is too bad that he doesn't (or can't?) tape her when she is talking about reconciling and needing attention from him. Then the court could really hear that she is a big liar about accusations. I doubt if she was afraid for her life she would be talking about a reconciliation, etc. May the Lord Bless you for what you are doing for them. (((hugs))))
