The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

CNN was at it's most accurate for breaking news in the wee hours, before management got up and decided how to spin it.
"Here's an aerial photo - that's the parking facility on the left - directly adjoined to the stadium"
the pink roof shown above the parking garage in the pic is the ROTC Armory. Cross Hall is across the street from it, off the photo further to the left.
Why are they calling this an 'apparent suicide'?
Are they saying a suicide note was found?
Are they saying this person intentionally dentonated a bomb?
What facts are available that state this was a suicide?
All those made snide comments about this thread don't have any facts to back up there comments either.
OIC, I didn't quite understand that they could tell a difference in their own explosion of the backpack and a bomb left by the perp.

Having said what I did about the Ruf-Neks' cannon-boomers and possible timing, confusion, it would then follow that the perp wasn't nescessarily wanting to take just himself out, but was perhaps expecting to live through the explosion and escape, and wanting to get away undetected. That wouldn't constitute a suicide.
If you'd heard the Ruf-Nek "guns," you'd know what I mean. They get me in the pit of the stomach or sometimes the solar plexus. They are LOUD and explosive.

Major coverup here. Been flipping between CNN and Fox and this story is not even mentioned.
That was why I asked the question. I have a really bad feeling of "deja vu all over again" this morning.
With the apparent news blackout, all that left is to look at the history of 'suicide bombers'...So one might ask, what is the history of a suicide bomber going to the trouble of buying or making a bomb so he can blow himself up in the middle of a parking lot, next to a staduim full of thousands of people??? Is there a lot of history on this type of incident??? No???
Well, why don't you tell me why you think there is a cover up here . I say there is simply a lack of facts righ tnow and there is no thing to warrent a suggestion that this was a mini 9/11 inthe works.
there is no doubt that this is going to be the official line (or "lie", take your pick) on this whole story. "some disgrunteled student committing suicide by pipe bomb". happens every day.

That would be a good explanation of the cell phone outage if it only happened after the bomb. Anyone know if cell phones were ok before the bomb went off?
the lack of facts may well be understandable at this stage of the investigation - the lack of questions by the media is the real issue.

It seems to me that in this time when suicide/homocide bombing is de rigeur, any other attitude would be suicidal.
As far as I'm concerned, after 9/11, the burden of proof belongs to the "nothing to see here" crowd.
Remember the initial 9/11 reports that of the "accident" of an airplane running into the WTC.
