NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - A U.S. soldier opened fire on a group of fellow soldiers during a morning exercise session at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on Thursday but no one was injured at the Army base.

The soldier, whose name was not released, "is in custody after firing shots at a physical training formation" but no one was wounded, Fort Campbell said in a statement.

It provided no other details but said the matter was under investigation.

The facility, on the Kentucky-Tennessee border about 60 miles northwest of Nashville, is home to the 101st Airborne Division that has served in Iraq.

Why do I get the feeling that this "soldier" faces a particular direction while praying 5 times daily?

Hmmm...after the attack, did the soldier file for three Purple Hearts?

Didn't they have an event like this at Campbell about five years ago?

Wesley Clark???

If it were a naval base, I'd wonder if it were a certain "Senator" from Massachusetts who, by the way, served in Vietnam and answers to the name Ketchup.

Without more information I gotta assume he did'nt want to hit anyone.

Nobody is that bad a shot.

He should still be in a world of hurt for putting people at risk (assuming he just fired over their heads).

Not in the mood for jokes on this topic. My son is in the 101st AB. They are in the process of heading back to Iraq.

Bragg had a similar incident in 96 or 97. A group of SF guys circled around the hill as he was firing on soldiers doing PT and disarmed him. I can't remember Campbell having anything like this, except the regular murders that take place just off base.
