A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-15, 16-05....Oh, My Eyes!!
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

What you see is not always what you see. Wait and see, and you will see what I see.

You may think the picture below is just a snowy bunch of black and white specks, but come closer.... closer.... closer.... come closer, until you're about six to ten inches from your monitor. Are you there? Now you may need to sorta cross your eyes and stare in the middle of the picture for just a bit. Now back up...you should see an object jump forward, leaving the background far behind. Do you see what I see? (Dolly, you will like this one.) :)

Here's one in color, and it's a nice picture by itself - even more fun when you see what you'll see when you do what you did before. :)

Just one more, because I don't want your eyes to hurt like mine did when I was searching for stereograms.

A cup of tea, anyone?

Have fun! Tell me what you saw in the pictures!

Billie

The Right Focus

Read:
Psalm 90

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. —Psalm 90:12

Bible In One Year: James 1-2

cover We call life's older years the "sunset years." But are they really that rosy? For some, they are. But for many others, even Christians, the sunset years may become clouded with bitterness or despair.

To minimize this, we must make it our goal early in life to get the right focus. Robert Kastenbaum understood this. He wrote, "I do feel an increased sense of responsibility to this future self and to all those who cross my path. What kind of old man will I be, given the chance? The answer to that question depends largely on the kind of person I am right now."

As I have observed contented older people, I've learned that it is our focus more than our feelings that determines the sort of people we are. I once visited a godly woman in her nineties who was feeling her age in every joint and organ. "Old age ain't for sissies!" she groaned honestly. Then, as always, her groans gave way to praise for God's goodness. A focus of gratitude, begun early in life, parted the clouds and let the sun shine through.

What is your focus today, regardless of your feelings? Is it one of gratitude for Jesus and His gift of eternal life? If so, you'll grow sweeter as you grow older. —Joanie Yoder

We can be young in heart and mind,
To others we can yet be kind,
Sing songs of praise to God through tears,
And grow in grace through all our years. —Zimmerman

What you will be tomorrow depends on the choices you make today.

I hate those things. So much technology going to waste.

It's like taking a magnificent art print and folding it into a paper hat.

The second picture was kinda spooky, like something coming alive in the garden. Technically, it wss messed up by having the fencepost visible.

Beautiful tables, though!

This is funny. I think I need more coffee, I have yet made anything out in the pictures. I don't want to guess and give it away to anyone else who hasn't seen them yet. :)

Here is one I found in a recent email...

"If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, you will only see one color, pink.

If you stare at the black + in the center, the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black + in the center of the picture.

After a short period of time, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will only see a green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works.
There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear.

This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see."

Thanks for the bandwidth, Billie!

LOL! Glad you liked the tables.

I think stereograms are fascinating, but can't look at too many of them at once because, oh, my, does it make my eyes hurt.

Maybe you should write a poem about them today though. LOL!
