This is good.

This may help with other groups which now can't accept federal dollars and then discriminate agains groups with policies against homosexuality.

Thus (in theory) the united way can't discriminate against groups with policies against homosexuality because the united way recieves federal dollars. (boy scouts, catholic adoption agencies)

I guess I remember the driving rules.

States had to increase the drinking age to 21, enforce mandatory seat belt rules and lower the speed limit to 55 or else they would lose their federal funding under jimmy carter.

Most states did not want to comply, but did so anyway under the boot of the federal govt.

I think the general rule is that if the university gets one cent of federal money from any source including grants or loans to the students, then the entire university has to obey all the federal strings.

Very few (Hillsdale and maybe a couple of others) colleges have refused all sources of federal money so they can remain free. Maybe this is what will get a bunch of colleges off the federal teat.

Notice I didn't say ALL lawyers. My point was that if the Law Schools consider the military "repugnant,"...well, never mind. As I said, I certainly didn't mean ALL lawyers!

The long-term positive effects of GWB's appointments to the Supremes will be the crowning achievements of his legacy. The Court's vote on granting military recruiters access to college campuses as a requisite for federal funds is an echo of the wishes of the vast majority of Americans. Hurray for out side!

Yea, Grove City College ran into this fight when they wanted to be able to have requirements based on religion at the college.

It's a college where you can literally be expelled if you skip going to chapel or going to church instead of the on campus chapel too many times.

They fought for their right to keep religion as a central part of the college all the way to the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court told them they couldn't do so and accept federal funds.

Therefore you cannot get any kind of government finical aid to attend Grove City College, not even a government guaranteed loan.

However, because of dedicated staff and alumni, it's an pretty good and affordable College. They have kept their costs down because they've had to do so since students can't receive financial aid.

Alito. He's a slacker. Also he wasn't around for the arguments before the court so he didn't vote. If it was going to be close the court might have brought the lawyers back in and reheard the arguments.

Yale has the biggest problem with this decision. For the state schools, if the law schools insist, they will just separate the law school from the other part of campus and separate its bureaucracy so that it's a separate entity. A useless gesture, but such things are important to bubbleheads.

Yale can't do that.
