Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

I won’t be maintaining the list anymore. It’s so long it’s pointless for me, and y’all have a better list and it’s alphabetical. One less thing to do that brought me no joy.

Sure. Where would you like to start? I've done upwards of sixteen thousand. In all that posting, I've never once used the foul language you did. In all that posting, I've never made a complaint about Free Republic. You do it regularly. I've never blackguarded or sneered at groups of posters with whom I disagree. You do that regularly too.

>> Sheesh, do you have to ping Jim on every rant you make?

I addressed him twice. I think he ought to know how you are repaying his kindness to you.

But we DO HAVE Duncan Hunter as a candidate, so I’m sticking with him. I no longer feel like I’m going to be chastised for being a social conservative supporting a socon on a socon forum.

Being beholden to values and core beliefs are standards of integrity and character. Moving and standing behind core beliefs and driving the proverbial bus is important if true conservative values are to win, not republican values (those have delineated and blurred), but conservative values. Either one has conservative core values and beliefs or they don’t. Capitulating to the middle wins no ground, wins no battle and certainly doesn’t further the conservative cause. Fighting the battle starting at the middle gets you nowhere but the middle. If the conservatives mirror the Republican line today, all footholds for decency, morality, virtue and values is lost to battling for the lesser of two evils. We are better than that, and some understand. Some don’t.

I can’t remember where I read it here on FR, but someone pointed out that most candidates run towards their base during primaries and then towards the other side during elections.

That was me. ;^)

I'll take your word for that, unless and until you prove otherwise.

Well, he's got about nine years of posts that you can browse through. I'd pretty much say he's already proved who he is as regards FR.

I saw someone running down 68grunt and Registered on this thread.

I cannot say what led to their leaving or getting banned as I was not privy to it...or what disagreements they had that got under folks skin. I can say that over many years both have shown themselves to be on "our side", irrespective of what went on lately.

68grunt also proved it long ago...about 40 years back when much younger and he deserves our thanks for that service.

Anyhow, as regards Rudy...as I have said earlier on this thread, IMHO, mixing politics and compromise of fundamental principle are never a good thing...irrespective of what party affiliation. It has become common place and the norm amongst Democrats...from my perspective, it is a horrible shame to see it happening more and more amongst Republican candidates.

Bears repeating...

------------

Right now though, I don't care which Republican candidate wins the nomination. I just don't want to be associated with the nastiness that has become this forum lately. I LOVE good debate. But this isn't good debate about the issues, this is childish name calling against pretty decent people. Not on my free time. When I post about the issues, I try to debate cleanly and fairly and there's not been much of that to be found on campaign threads of late.

Those who are most pleased with how this thread is going are the types I least want to be associated with. The Admin Moderator and owner of this site is/are now posting things like "Shutup Asshole" and "Up yours asswipe". That sort of language used to be not allowed here, those kind of posts would have been pulled as inappropriate. Now they have a cheering section.

Blech.

Where is the mature, civilized, intelligent political debate going to be for this election? It's not been happening here. And that's too bad.

------------

Of course, for daring to be reasoned, you'll be labeled a "treasonous liberal", or some such tripe.

“You’ll note that I don’t have any posts over there.”

So I told another poster that you may be busy cross posting, and you think that’s offensive.

Ok.

But I’m still curious why you would even join a website that seems to be Anti-FR to begin with.

I am very conservative, and I do not believe for a minute that the best way to educate those who have not yet embraced the conservative way is to shun and belittle everyone who is not already 100% pure.

I think that people need to be informed and educated on the issues, not bludgeoned into submission.

Lightweight. I am over 18,000 LOL!

In all that posting, I've never once used the foul language you did.

That was a while back and you keep bringing it up here. Not sure why, but you do. BTW, it was not any worse than what JR and the admin mods are using now.

I've never made a complaint about Free Republic. You do it regularly.

Really? Where have I complained about FR on a regular basis?

I addressed him twice. I think he ought to know how you are repaying his kindness to you.

???

It was an admin mod. JR was not even involved.

Not offended - just pointed out that you didn’t even bother to examine what you linked to.

And I already replied above that it was to have contact with folks who have long histories here, outside of the recent idiocy.

I agree...and that's why Hunter and Thompson are well in front of Romeny for me. Rudy is a no-opt for me and I would vote for Romney over him if those were the only options remaining because Mitt is saying the right things and acknowledging that his former positions were wrong, particularly on abortion.

...but it certainly concerns me that it is happening in campaign mode and I would prefer to see either of the other two in the White House until he has a few more years behind him actually acting out those principles.

Exactly...real actions, over time, will reveal the depth and truth of the commitment.
***You know, I just thought of that post in a different light. This bug zapper thread is an example of light being shined into the darkness and revealing the “depth and truth of the commitment” that some freepers have lacked when it comes to core principles. Keep up the good work. Oh, and BTW, one of these days I’ll get around to reading your Dragon’s Head book, but I’m not that into fiction.

t is a sickening thing to watch the toadies and the foul-mouthed sycophantic bullies be put in charge. I hope Jim likes his new tone because it is going to be tough to clean up.

It sounds like you are most unhappy here? Right?

If you think the pack is ravenous, best to just step outside the dog pen until they grow tired and fall asleep. That’s what I decided to do. Nobody’s making anybody step into the ring.
