Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Here are a few more great quotes by Ronald Reagan:

“Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?”

“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.”

“I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”

Worth a second look. Great post.

“Being beholden to values and core beliefs are standards of integrity and character. Moving and standing behind core beliefs and driving the proverbial bus is important if true conservative values are to win, not republican values (those have delineated and blurred), but conservative values. Either one has conservative core values and beliefs or they don’t. Capitulating to the middle wins no ground, wins no battle and certainly doesn’t further the conservative cause. Fighting the battle starting at the middle gets you nowhere but the middle. If the conservatives mirror the Republican line today, all footholds for decency, morality, virtue and values is lost to battling for the lesser of two evils. We are better than that, and some understand. Some don’t.”

Great post, Jim. No, I don’t expect you to. It’s a post-1984 world here now. I never thought I would live to see the United States go the way of Europe in the 30s. And I never thought I would see Europe throw off Christ and their entire cultural history in order to accept a bullet-free Islamist revolution. This is indeed a fallen world spiritually, and it is teetering at the edge of the abyss politically as well.

This conjures up images from Blazing Saddles. "Somebody stop me before I zap myself."

An enterprising freeper could do a nice graphic for us.

I thought your name was ‘Quilter’, not ‘Quiter’.

Not in this case! I've only read about 2000 posts on the thread, so I've missed a lot. Having to work is seriously interfering with my personal life, especially my FReeping.

The problem with pragmatism is that it just doesn't work.

Well, sometimes it does.

For about five minutes...

I never for a single moment expected that you would go for a candidate who was not conservative, and I never said otherwise. I’m talking about the lack of civility on this thread.

I’m baffled that you are baffled.

No, indeed, I didn’t discover the thread until Monday morning, and would still be struggling back in the 5,000s somewhere if I was trying to read them all. I want to—sounds like I missed some major fireworks!

I'm shaking my head. I can only assume that these accounts:

1) Decided not to heed the warnings they received through their FreepMail channel,
2) or they simply didn't recognize that FR is a private undertaking and they serve at the pleasure of ..

Don't become too comfortable. Many gadflies return when their suspension is lifted.

Yeah, glad there are still some around. So many have been kicked off for incivility and decidedly lower levels of discourse.
