Dick Wolf probably likes him even more for filming the entire season and delaying until it all airs. ;O)
I like Fred Thompson but last time I saw him on TV (news), he looked terrible. He’s not the most attractive guy on earth but I like his politics.
Hopefully playing a liberal putz like Sydney Schamburg opened his eyes.
I miss Jerry Orbach. He was the reason why I watched L & O.
“I am preparing to accept apologies from all of those who so freely lambasted me whenever I mentioned Senator Thompson last year.”
lol! Were you the one who kept throwing Thompson’s name in? I remembered someone did, but couldn’t recall who. Good on you!

Here’s an idea I would endorse

Please let this happen:
National Journal’s Alyssa Rosenberg throws out the idea that Ex-Sen. Fred Thompson, an independent Republican, and Sam Waterston, a liberal affiliated with the Unity ‘08 group, could run together on the Unity ‘08 ticket.
That ticket would split the Right while most Democrats would be left going, “Sam who???”
Of course we should all get a chuckle out of the notion that Thompson is an “independent” Republican. Here are some of his 2000 interest group ratings:
AFSCME (labor): 0
ACLU: 14
League of Conservation Voters: 0
National Taxpayer’s Union (wingers): 75
Chamber of Commerce: 93
American Conservative Union: 92
National Tax-Limitation Committee (wingers): 97
Christian Coalition: 77
Want more? Thompson told Wallace on an appearance on the Fox Propaganda Network that he would appoint Scalia-like judges, that he would pardon Scooter Libby, supports president Bush’s escalation of the war in Iraq, and so on.
So what part of this, exactly, is “independent”?
But hell, if Unity 2008 wants to become a vehicle to split the Right, then by all means they should go for it.
More realistically, however, is the possibility that Thompson runs for the Republican nomination. After all, that’s exactly what he is, through and through.
Update: I didn’t realize Sam Waterston was on Law & Order. So the linked material is clearly a joke.
Except the line about Thompson being an “independent Republican”. That’s a media narrative I’d rather kill early than have it become McCain II.

Waterston is a big supporter of the new third party, Unity ‘08.

Perhaps it’s an open-ended contract?
I still don’t get why he’d reveal his cancer and go through all this if he weren’t running.
I mentioned it wistfully several times in October and November, but nobody harassed me, they all sighed wistfully too. I just didn’t think there was ANY chance he would be interested. I have watched him for over ten years, and never thought I would get a chance to vote for him. I am so excited....
“I am so excited....”
A lot of people are. After the ‘06 elections, things were looking pretty darned hopeless. It’s good to feel good about something/someone again.
“I can’t stand D’Onofreo”
He drives me nuts with those exaggerated, overly dramatic pauses of his. No one talks like that.
That's a joke. OF COURSE it will be renewed. That show is a syndication goldmine, and if NBC doesn't pick it up, there's plenty of networks that will knock each other over to pick it up.
Judging from what I’ve seen of them, I’d say Unity ‘08 is a Rockefeller Republican outfit. They seem big on a Bloomberg run for President.
Got a link for that?
:O)

>> Sam Waterston predicts co-star Fred Thompson will run for presidency
Good, because I’m well past 20 shades of blue holding my breath.
I certainly hope he does run - I’m leaning that he will, but am confused/concerned abou the ABC contract thing I’ve heard about.
Yep, me too. He was the best actor in the whole L&O franchise.
That said, I have long preferred SVU over the original. What a great show.
