“Indepdendent” and “bipartisan” are code-words for “liberal.”

Fred already has 2 contracts with ABC. Both are "at will", meaning either party can terminate at any time without cause.

Contract one is to substitute for Paul Harvey, and contract two is as a Political commentator.

Neither of which will affect his running.

I don't watch it anymore (sorry Fred), and I can't stand D'Onofreo..really would like to meet him on the street someday. hehe

Oh that's right, Private Pyle, don't make any f---ing effort to get to the top of the f---ing obstacle. If God would have wanted you up there he would have miracled your ass up there by now, wouldn't he?

Seems to be a liberal in the program, but his real political leanings remain a mystery.

If you follow the link here you can see he donated $2000 to John Kerry.

Waterston's definitely a lib - I remember him doing ad spots for The Nation magazine.

Kind of ironic for a guy who made quite a living portraying Abe Lincoln numerous times on stage and screen....

“He drives me nuts with those exaggerated, overly dramatic pauses of his. No one talks like that.”

It would be great if he and david caruso could do a show together.

Maybe shatner could guest star.

Well, his Paul Harvey gig would count for sure as a regular news show, so that is ok under the equal time rule.

I don’t know what the setup for the political commentary is, but I bet it falls into one of these categories.

“Congress reacted quickly by creating four exemptions to the equal opportunity law. Stations who gave time to candidates on regularly scheduled newscasts, news interviews shows, documentaries (assuming the candidate wasn’t the primary focus of the documentary), or on-the-spot news events would not have to offer equal time to other candidates for that office.”

THE END OF A VERY LONG STATEMENT FROM FRED:

So we castigate the President in the most bitter terms; decry his disgraceful conduct and his damage to the institutions we hold most dear; disgrace him with the most condemnatory language at our command and yet refuse to even consider his removal from office? By such action we treat the loss of public office as the worst fate imaginable, reserved for only the most treasonous of villains. Has public office become so precious in the United States that we treat it as a divine right? Actually, by such treatment we cheapen it.

At a time when all of our institutions are under assault, when the Presidency has been diminished and the Congress is viewed with scepticism, our Judiciary and our court system have remarkably maintained the public’s confidence. Now the President’s actions are known to every school child in America. And in the midst of these partisan battles, many people still think this matter is just `lying about sex.’ But little by little, there will be a growing appreciation that it is about much more than that. And in years to come, in every court house in every town in America, juries, judges, and litigants will have the President’s actions as a bench mark against which to measure any attempted subversion of the judicial process. The notion that anyone, no matter how powerless, can get equal justice will be seen by some as a farce. And our rule of law—the principle that many other countries still dream about—the principle that sets us apart, will have been severely damaged. If this does not constitute damage to our government and our society, I cannot imagine what does. And for that he should be convicted.

My daughter watches Boston Legal. She im’d me tonight. She said Shatner’s character made the comment “Anyone but Hillary” or something to that effect, on tonight’s show. ;)

Thank You.

From where I sit, that's absolutely brilliant, and it strengthens my pride in supporting him.

I look forward to having a President that takes our laws serious.

Isn't Michael Moriarty the DA before him in L&O, a conservative.

He lets his beliefs be known here

I’m not sure what Michael Moriarty’s leanings are, but I used to really love the show when he was on “Law & Order”. He was so good at that folksy, “Well Bill, you need a weedeater, and that guy is guilty of murder”, next door neighbor style.

I do remember that he left the show in protest against a clampdown against violence on TV. I don’t remember the exact details, but it may have had something to do with Al and Tipper’s war on “indecency”.

I was wrong, he’s to the right of me, and I’m pretty far right. I always did like him in “Hanoi Hilton” which I think every one of those craven, defeatists RATS on Capitol Hill should be forced to watch, followed by “The Killing Fields”.

There you have it, Michael Moriarty and Sam Waterston coming together to do good...

Thus far, it is my impression that Fred is a good and honorable man.

With what our POS country has become, it sure seems a sin to allow any good man to be sacrificed in any public office, let alone in the office of the President of the USA.

Well maybe he wasn’t sure he’d be signed and they made him an extra good offer.
