I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.
FR will be eternal, as long as we financially support it and can keep from killing each other before general elections.

I would like to know why he thinks a paid moderator would do a better job than a volunteer. That was a stupid suggestion IMO. Money can’t buy integrity, and it’s insulting to suggest that money would make someone more diligent than the moderators we have. It’s another example of O’Reilly letting his mouth exceed his alleged intellect.
Lanny Davis accused FR of being a “hate site” last night so Bill had to prove or disprove tonight to appease the left.

I don't have the transcript, but as I recall, he did say something akin to "and that was just today". Dishonest of him. Let's see if he has the honesty to correct the record and apologize...I suspect what we'll see will be just spin.

Mr. O’Reilly, if you or any of your staff are reading this, BACK UP YOUR CLAIMS! I’ve been a regular reader for about 6 years, and I’ve never seen anything like that posted here.

If I had to choose one letter of the number presented tonight to represent a clear perspective of Free Republic, this would be the one. BOR has doubtless received a number of illtempered responses which do not contribute to his understanding of the contrast between FR and KOS. This may not meet his pithy standards but it is an excellant piece of writing.

And Jesus was harsh (not only to the Pharisees, as some believers wrongly assume but) to all the unrepentant (see His use of "hypocrite"). Jesus instructs Christians to not "cast your pearls before swine" (Mat. 7:6). Yet the silly dilemma now is, "Who could Christ possibly have meant by that, for we are too loving, tolerant, polite and respectful to refer to any human being by that mean-spirited term."
In the King James Version, the seductive women among the people of God are worse than "whores" (Ezek. 16:33). That crude term appears in the Bible dozens of times. The men who use those women are "whoremongers" (1 Tim. 1:10; Heb. 13:4; Rev. 21:8; 22:15), which is the most raw term in the English language to describe promiscuous men. God describes other sinners in terms of filthy excrement (Isa. 64:6) and even worse (2 Ki. 18:27; Isa. 36:12).

Thank you for your kind words about my letter to BOR. I hope he reads it too, but I won’t hold my breath and turn blue.
There have been gross comments on FR and I have hit the abuse button many times. Especially the gay comments. Don’t feel our site needs explicit trash comments so some bozo can show how macho he is. And, don’t feel I should have to wade through trash, gross comments to read a thread. Of course I could ignore the thread, but often you just run across some poster showing how clever they think they are with language that should remain in a men’s room.
But, I think the site is monitored very well. And I have found the moderators to be very quick especially if alerted to the problem.
Bill chooses to hunt through thousands of posts to find the 2 or 3 that he could use to show he is fair and balanced.
How nice. He does not have a clue about this site or he would realize the quality, content and purpose of the site.
Cheap shot Bill. And you did take the time to find an outstanding spokesperson to come on your show. Wonder if he has a clue about all that spokesperson has done over the years.
