Barry M. Goldwater, Jr. endorsed Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul for president.

“America is at a crossroads,” said Mr. Goldwater. “We have begun to stray from our traditions and must get back to what has made us the greatest nation on earth or we will lose much of the freedom we hold dear. Ron Paul stands above all of the other candidates in his commitment to liberty and to America.”

“Leading America is difficult, and I know Ron Paul is the man for the job,” he added.

The Republican Party is not going to unite to support Ron Paul.

They don't have to support Paul. But what they should do is just let him do his thing and let the chips fall where they be. If he's bringing in new and younger voters into the GOP, in addition to Reagan Democrats, as well as pushing the other candidates back to traditional conservatism, then that's a good thing that'll benefit the GOP in the long-run.

“If he’s bringing in new and younger voters into the GOP”

Unfortunately, those new and younger voters have become as insane as those with BDS. That won’t help anybody, In the short run or in the long run.

You know that Dr. Paul has been pro-life ever since he was an intern at Henry Ford Hospital and witnessed an abortion live and up close. If you’re going to keep spewing this lie, then I have nothing further to say to you.

Fred Thompson is pro-life, he has a 100% pro-life voting record as Senator.

Attitudes like yours is precisely the reason why people are apathetic to politics and don't vote. So instead of welcoming young voters with a message about the virtues of our Constitution and freedom, you want to insinuate they're moonbats and stereotype them. Nice. Don't quit your day job, you'll be a more horrible campaign adviser than David Frum.

The average American did not think Goldwater was right.

That's because the average American has been dumbed down by history textbooks and the liberal media. Time has proven Goldwater to be correct. He had the foresight to predict almost everything that has ruined this nation now.

That's an unfair characterization of the average American. Goldwater lost because 1964 was the high-tide mark of public faith in the welfare state. The command generation of the time were still wartime New Dealers. The Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter debacles were yet to be experienced.

That was also a time when everyone, right or left, believed that Communism was here to stay and that the Soviet Union was invincible. The best we could hope for in generations to come would be "containment". This was the belief system that was about to get us into Vietnam.

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is. Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path".

No. I’m a grassroots supporter who is in one of the meetup groups. I’m not employed by the campaign, if that’s what you meant. I am a small business owner, an active pro-life volunteer activist and a conservative Christian.

You forgot to mention your blog.

I’m not convinced RP was banned for saying anything bad to you. I’ve heard much worse here.

I think he just PO’d today’s mod by challenging him. He was making some good points.

BTW, how did Calpernia end up on your doo doo list. I like her.

PSS: What are you doing in Iraq. Or is that double secret classified info :-)

You forget he was also pro-gunowner in his earlier years and anti-gunowner in his later years. That represents a change to me, not just asking different questions.

>> He should be given a slot at the convention, and he should endorse someone like Fred Thompson so that his supporters will stay in the GOP and help defeat Hillary. <<

Your hero Ron Paul has already stated quite clearly that he won't endorse Fred Thompson or anyone else in the race unless they join him on the sinking "Out of Iraq Now!" bus. Ron Paul won't be on stage with Fred unless Fred loses his mind and begins yapping about "neocon quadmires" or hell freezes over and Ron abandons his isolationist views.

And the funny thing is he has never "pledged" not to run as a third party candidate, your claims notwithstadnding. The exactly quote is he doesn't "plan to run in a third party". Obviously, a third party will only be "neccessary" if he fails in his current bid in win a major party nomination.

Fair warning 6 months in advance (as if anybody cares)

IF...baby killer Rudy Giuliani wins the GOP nomination AND chooses the smoker banning nanny stater Mike Huckabee as his VP nominee hoping that a baptist minister like your candidate BB can take some of the stink off of him among socons

AND

IF...Karl Marx in a pantsuit Hillary gets the Dim nomination as expected

AND

IF...Ron Paul runs as a third party candidate as the only pro-life libertarian alternative

THAN

I will be a shameless shill, contributor and pimp for Ron Paul’s campaign.

There are a lot of ifs in there Jim. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Nobody on FR is more anti-islamofascist than me. My parents and relatives who are Christian came to America to flee the islamofascists 38 years ago in order to escape Christian persecution by muslims. We've known for years what many Americans only found out on 9/11/01...these jihadists are nuts and need to be defeated. I'm as angry as anyone when the leftists gleefully work to ensure our defeat for political gain and to appease their anti war moonbat base.

I'm for the only conservative who has a chance to win in the primary. Fred Thompson. If he keeps impressing me and everyone else you will see the best presidential endorsement on FR ever. Or at least the most entertaining :-)

Baby killers and nanny staters really piss me off.

Do you happen to have any of the links that disprove the claims against him on the abortion issue regarding the lobbying for a pro-abortion group. If Ron Paul loses the nomination and Fred Thompson wins, I would like to be educated on his positions.
