What Would Free Republic Do If Fred Thompson Is Not The Republican Nominee? (Vanity)
December 9 2007 | jveritas

It is very obvious that Fred Thompson is Free Republic most favorite candidate and by far. On the other hand every other top tier Republican candidate, Guiliani, Romney, Huckabee, and McCain are absolutely disdained by most Freepers. Therefore this is the important question:

What would Free Republic do if Fred Thompson is not the Republican Party Nominee?

I’ll support any candidate with a solid record of conservatism.

Read that as Pro Life, Pro Second Amendment, Pro National Defense and Anti Illegal Invasion.

You know, an actual CONSERVATIVE.

For those of you who have trouble counting, that’s not one issue, nor two, nor three, so save the single issue voter song and dance...

And in the unfortunate circumstance that the Chosen One doesn't meet the above criteria, I'll vote for someone who does.

“Wasn’t Bush purged from FR in 2000?”

Actually not. He’s still posting here under the name George W Bush.

I’m sure by now someone pointed out that this question is similar to: what will happen to Rush Limbaugh if GHW Bush loses to Clinton in ‘92.

Okay, so you have no problem voting for a liberal and sending the GOP on a leftward track even more then its gone in recent years.

Amazing.

Others aren't so foolish.

But I’m really starting to like Huckabee.

He's far too accepting of illegals. And he spent like GWB as governor of Arkansas.

I love Fred. But I’m really starting to like Huckabee.

Because he loves illegal alien criminals just like you?

Figures.

Your thoughts on McCain are very logical.

1. You third party nuts are suicidal kookburgers.

There's a great way to influence people and win them to your side of the argument, but that ain't it.

I’d like to see the logic diagram that allows you to vote for a write-in or 3rd party candidate and NOT call IT a wasted vote.

Am I in California? --> Yes. --> Is there ANY CHANCE WHATSOEVER that the Republican will carry California? --> No. --> Will my vote for the RINO change the results. --> No. Will a third party vote have even the slighest chance of influencing future debate? --> mmmmayyyybe...

I like Rudy. I like Fred. I like Huckabee.

I'll leave the details to the smokey backrooms and when the nominee is chosen, that's who I'll vote for.

I love Huckabee on immigration. He said that there was no reason to punish the kids for crimes of the parents...in defending in-state scholarships available to illegals.

He further said that "if you couldn't live with that, DON'T VOTE FOR ME! I'm not your man!"

That got my attention. Plus, Chuck Norris?? A no brainer.

Candidates may come, and presidents may go, but as long as there are electrons, there will be a FReeRepublic.

I'll be voting for the Republican nominee...even if it is **GAG** the Huckster. The RATs simply must be kept out of the White House.

I’ll happily support Duncan Hunter if he beats Fred for the nomination, but if a sleazy liberal RINO media-dictated candidate is annointed, Fred will STILL have my vote in the general election, even if I have to write his name in.

Sure - the nominee would never win in Maryland. Even if it was Rudy or some other cross dressing rhino.

You cannot really write anyone in in a Presidential election as you don't actually vote for a candidate but rather a slate of electors for that candidate.

Well, truthfully, I support Romney and Thompson as my top two. I refuse to commit to one or the other, as I feel it gives me a taste of sanity. And honestly, I like them both.

I could easily vote for McCain and probably could donate to him in the general. I could tolerate Giuliani in the end, I think.

Huckabee....I couldn’t donate to him in the general. I don’t like him at all. By far my least favorite candidate left in the race.

I’d vote for him, but no way I’d put my money or my time on the line for him. I don’t trust him on the border, and his economic policies and general philosophy on government stink to high heaven.
