I’m glad he helped you over the panic. I AM optimistic about FR and the changes that will be made. Jim and John do such a wonderful job with the site.

Thank you for your kind comments! I would be at a loss if I didn’t have the prayer warriors to draw strength from at times...and I appreciate the opportunity to pray for others!

I think you're giving into the dark side.

Is RRS only available with Firefox?
No. You can use it with an RSS reader, if you download one. As far as use within a browser, the browser you use must have RSS capabilities (like Firefox does). I think Opera does. Don't know about the rest.

Do “Obama” and “nobama” really have to be in such bright red?

It’s giving me trouble when I go up to see if I have any new pings or mail.

:)

When I go to the search and put in by:Syncro I get the exact same thing. There is no Comments tab.

When I put in by:syncro I get this:

That would be the default, articles by me.

See the "comments" tab above the artiles?

You should have that too.

If you have it, and click on it, you get this:

I have basically the same system as you do. So if it doesn't work that way for you, I will lend you my hammer (my tool of choice to work on computers, watches, etc...)

Second stage is the old first stage.

No It Isn't

But you never used the search, right? So I understand your misconception.

Quidam's dead, Jim.

That's my point.

An embedded video like that could be clicked many times before the mods see it or get an abuse report on it.

And FR’s enemies would have it and use it against this site in a nano second.

Oh thanks for sending me the link to the movie.

JUST KIDDING LOL

Jim, it still does not work. I still get exactly what I showed you in my other post to you. The only time I get the tabs

ARTICALS ACTIVITIES COMMENTS FULL is when I am in the Forum: News/Activism. Then when I click on that COMMENT Tab it gives me POSTS:News Activism.

Syncro, I have done exactly what you said and I keep telling you I DO NOT get the comments tab or any other tabs.

I get exactly what I have shown you before. Something is definitely wrong.

OK, that is what I thought

I wanted you to see what it is supposed to look like, so if it ever does work you will have seen the pictures

Good luck

Using the alternate SEARCH all this time. No wonder.

RE: my #840

Thanks for the FYI. I had already figured out most of it. I just don't think it's very clean. Hardly user friendly for new users. Even old users would have to re-discover how to do certain things if you don't do them on a regular basis. I'd start by handling the "Go" box in a consistent way by requiring a command, followed by a colon, followed by a value:

Right now after having hit the "Go" button, the page reloads with something different in the "Go" box from what I originally entered. Right now if I enter "by:syncro" it comes back with "posts-by:syncro". If I hit the "Go" button again it reloads with "title:posts-by:...". "posts-by:..." isn't even an acceptable command for its current functionality.

If I click on a "Topic" area such as "US: Virginia (News/Activism)" only "va-news" is plugged into the "Go" box. Obviously if I hit "Go" again it becomes a keyword search instead of the Topic search.

If no command is entered then it's fine that it defaults to a keyword search.

Maybe later on you could add additional functionality to allow a semi-colon delimited list of values.

I agree with the last two statement’s S..well all of them.. but esp the later.. Maybe a 24 or 12 hour edit . Easier to remove HUGE ghastly pix also that eat up broadband.

Thanks for trying to help though. I have called Jim Robinson in and so far he hasn’t been able to help either. I have browsed the thread and it appears that MinuteGal is having pretty much the same problem as I am having. Very Strange.

"Quidam's dead, Jim."

Hey! I haven't heard that name in ages. Do you mean he's dead literally?

No- They are cool features. I see them on other boards and they work well. Putting inappropriate videos up gets the same punishments and inappropriate posts. Up to and including banning and nuking.
Usually posters have a very limited time in which they can edit posts. No more than 24 hours. Also it is very common for the software to put a notion on that persons post that it was edited. Sometimes there is even a “Reason” box that can be filled out and added to the post.

Another way is to click on anyones user name to go to there home page. Enter the name of person you are looking for in box in the upper right hand corner to go to there home page. Then click on “In Forum”.

If it’s done right the first time change is not required.

LOL no, it was a takeoff of “He's dead, Jim” from I believe Star Treck or some such SF stuff.

The tortoise is on the fence post.

Yes, I have seen them on other forums also, and abused quite often

I stand by my reasons, but it's not up to me.

I just don't think they are necessary.
