Time Magazine ^ | 02-06-09 | Randy James

Posted on 02/06/2009 11:04:30 AM PST by GOP_Lady

It's been a year since Mitt Romney dropped out of the Republican presidential race, but he remains an influential conservative voice — particularly on economic issues. The former Massachusetts governor and star business consultant earned ovations at a House Republican retreat in January and recently signed on to headline a major Senate GOP dinner in April. He spoke with TIME about Obama's Oval Office debut, what's wrong with the economic stimulus bill and what his own future may hold.

As always your bigotry is showing...I've told you this before, more than one time, I am not a Mormon, I have never been a Mormon, nor do I expect to ever be a Mormon...

...so, Joe Smith has never been mine nor will he ever be mine... Brigham Young has never been mine nor will he ever be mine...therefore your argument/statement is just another example of your ignorance or stupidity...actually strike the 'or', it's undoubtedly an example of both!

It seems to me it was ideological purist like you that helped the party to an early grave. The my way or the highway, we don’t know stinkin’ big tent attitude you put force in 2006/08 sentenced the country to the agony of an overwhelmingly far left liberal Congress, Senate, WH and soon to be judiciary. Even the sainted RR, Happy Birthday Mr. Reagan, was willing to accept someone who disagreed with him some of the time over those who disagreed with him all of the time.

If you think that a candidate ideologically pure enough to meet your criteria would ever have a chance of winning a national election then you are either delusional or smoking some pretty strong stuff.

I am guessing going forward that unlike you and your compatriots, intelligent, thinking, rational, non-dogmatic people here on FR and across the Country are going to find themselves wishing we had elected an experienced executive, with great management skills, an understanding of the economy and the private sector over the big government socialist that sits in the WH now. As people lose their jobs, their life savings, their homes and their freedoms they are going to find the ultra right issues that you make your stand on to be less significant than putting food on the table. You and yours had and remarkably still have such an unbridled irrational hatred for Mitt Romney that you were unwilling to accept the fact that maybe he had changed his mind on a subject or was at least open-minded enough to listen to the other side. You were always quick to pull up some 5, 10 or 15 year old quote to make your point about one of your pet issues. Well welcome to the real world fieldmarshaldj now you can deal with the reality of a federal government run by people who have made their political bones on killing babies, taking away your guns and expanding the reach of the government into every corner of your life. You weren’t content to get 70-80% of the pie you had to have it all and you ended up with nothing.I guess to you that is a victory of sorts, to most of us it is an utterly, unnecessary defeat.

Even today when Romney is out on the circuit voicing conservative principles in an intelligent, articulate way you can’t let it go. I seriously doubt he will run for office again. You’re safe now from all the horrible things he was going to do to you and yours. You can proudly say that you stopped him his tracks. You remind me of those on the far left infected with their Bush Derangement Syndrome, the symptoms are the same the target is just different.

Bottom line it was the antics of you, others on FR like you and your fellow travelers in the general electorate who share your beliefs that got us John McCain. Had you been half as ardent in your attacks on the Democrats as you were on the Republican candidates during the primary we might not have ended up with McCain and by extension 4 years or more of Barack Hussien OBama.

Hope you are happy.

Former Governor Romney is an effective and popular political voice, and I believe he will continue to draw interest among party faithful and that he’ll have an impact on the party’s direction in the future.

Oh Mitt has real conviction. He’s always passionately believed Mitt Romney should be President.

“I WAS NEVER PART OF THE REAGAN REVOLUTION”

He probably meant he is/was a fiscal conservative, and didn’t support deficit spending.

Clearly, we’re talking past each other...I’m not asking for vague rants about his “ad infinitum” record of Socialism. I’m asking for facts.

I really don’t have a problem with people disagreeing with him: I had qualms myself. The question is whether he can be trusted, but that is the question we have for all politicians, isn’t it?

Ronald Reagan was a great president, but he gave us a couple of real dolts on the Supreme Court. So I am not expecting perfection.

I will remain a strong conservative and I will continue to support the Republican I think can best advance that agenda.

How about David Keane of the ACU? Didn’t he invite Mitt to address that organization? Or are they all in the tank for socialism, too? :)

Finally, you go ahead and take the last word: call me all sorts of nasty names and make me out to be the enemy. Fine. I won’t respond...just know this: I do respect your conservative passion and hope someday you’ll afford me the same. Thanks.

No, y'all are gleefully happy wearing your great big obama turd hat as long as Romney or anyone else y'all don't consider conservatively, deserving enough defeated. Sweet.

“It was hard to explain to them that you dont decide to be “pro-life” at 60+”

I became pro-life after developing a relationship with Jesus. You should write a book about when it’s too late to come to Jesus.

I’m sure many church leaders would love to turn people 60+ years old away, and tell them they have to support abortion because they are to old to learn that its murder.

Well there is your problem right there. There was much much more to the Reagan revolution.

And Reagan was a Fiscal Conservative also, do you actually know the story behind the deficit spending?

Given how little you seem to know about the man, I doubt it. You should read up on it, you will understand conservatism better.

“But white Catholics and Catholics who who go to church every week voted Republican. The latter are a cornerstone of the pro-life movement. My mother is Catholic, she and her church friends revile Obama and the Kennedy’s.”

That’s nice. I understand that the church leadership is trying to strengthen the pro-life movement from within. The pope has been a great friend to the unborn.

"It seems to me it was ideological purist like you that helped the party to an early grave."

Yeah ! Guilty ! I'm a purist. A Conservative who refuses to accept a SOCIALIST as a Republican. Why are YOU a Republican, Angus ?

"The my way or the highway, we don’t know stinkin’ big tent attitude you put force in 2006/08 sentenced the country to the agony of an overwhelmingly far left liberal Congress, Senate, WH and soon to be judiciary."

The only thing under the big tent is a circus. The GOP has itself to blame because it went hard to the left and became as debauched as the Democrats. When the GOP abandons Conservatism, it ceases to have a reason to exist. Comprende, ace ?

"Even the sainted RR, Happy Birthday Mr. Reagan, was willing to accept someone who disagreed with him some of the time over those who disagreed with him all of the time."

So if Bubba Clinton switches parties, will you wholly embrace him, too ? At least Bubba did more for the Republican party than Slick Willard EVER did.

"If you think that a candidate ideologically pure enough to meet your criteria would ever have a chance of winning a national election then you are either delusional or smoking some pretty strong stuff."

You mean a, gasp !, Conservative ? Hey, ace, you keep running buffoons like Juan and Socialists like Slick Willard and see how many gains we make. It's like pulling the plug out of the bathtub. Say bye-bye, GOP.

"I am guessing going forward that unlike you and your compatriots, intelligent, thinking, rational, non-dogmatic people here on FR and across the Country are going to find themselves wishing we had elected an experienced executive, with great management skills, an understanding of the economy and the private sector over the big government socialist that sits in the WH now."

Who would that be ? Oh, you mean Myth ? Bwahahahahaha ! Experienced ? Yes. He expertly killed the MA GOP. Great management skills ? Yup. He managed the MA GOP right into the grave. Understanding of the economy ? Yup. Biggest Socialist state healthcare HE championed signed into law, a mess his Black Democrat successor (whom he helped elect) is having to CLEAN up. Naah, the only thing different between the False Messiah and Slick Willard is their hair care products.

"As people lose their jobs, their life savings, their homes and their freedoms they are going to find the ultra right issues that you make your stand on to be less significant than putting food on the table."

Slick Willard can save us ! Can I get an amen ?

"You and yours had and remarkably still have such an unbridled irrational hatred for Mitt Romney that you were unwilling to accept the fact that maybe he had changed his mind on a subject or was at least open-minded enough to listen to the other side."

Con-man. Liar. Fraud. I've known Slick Willard FIFTEEN years. Those three words best describe EXACTLY what he is. He is like AIDS to the Republican party, to the Conservative movement, and to basic honesty.

"You were always quick to pull up some 5, 10 or 15 year old quote to make your point about one of your pet issues."

Heaven forbid he be quoted ! It's whatever he says at the moment, not what he said 5 minutes ago, and pay no attention to what he'll say 5 minutes from now. You guys remind me of the old Soviet Communists. There is no truth, only what we say. Do you have a clue how DELUSIONAL you people are to accept a cheap politician like this at his word ? To WORSHIP him as you do ? You're no different than the False Messiah automatons.

"Well welcome to the real world fieldmarshaldj now you can deal with the reality of a federal government run by people who have made their political bones on killing babies,"

The same babies the *omney family championed the murder of throughout the modern era. Oh, but we're not supposed to talk about that. Just whatever he says at the moment.

"taking away your guns and expanding the reach of the government into every corner of your life."

You mean like MythCare ? You claim to want Conservatism, but you champion a man who stands 180 degrees OPPOSED in his ACTIONS to these things. You believe the Myth. You are a fool, Angus.

"You weren’t content to get 70-80% of the pie you had to have it all and you ended up with nothing.I guess to you that is a victory of sorts, to most of us it is an utterly, unnecessary defeat."

Dig it, ace. With Slick, you get NOTHING. The Democrats get EVERYTHING. They get a Socialist to sign their legislation, enact their agenda, and a Republican party to be divided, defeated, and buried at the next election. That's what YOU and your bots want. To that, I say HELL, NO.

"Even today when Romney is out on the circuit voicing conservative principles in an intelligent, articulate way you can’t let it go."

Because not a SINGLE STINKING WORD coming out of his mouth is a word of truth. I don't give a damn to hear what he says, nothing but lies. I care about his actions. Actions like rubber-stamping a leftist judge so he could take a nice long lunch at a fancy restaurant. A leftist judge he appointed that let a murderer loose to kill Brian and Beverly Mauck. This man is despicable.

"I seriously doubt he will run for office again."

I'll believe it when his ACTIONS demonstrate he won't. But otherwise, he's as obsessed with the Presidency as his fellow Socialist AL GORE.

"You’re safe now from all the horrible things he was going to do to you and yours."

Oh, are you now acknowledging his ACTUAL record ?

"You can proudly say that you stopped him his tracks."

Proudly.

"You remind me of those on the far left infected with their Bush Derangement Syndrome, the symptoms are the same the target is just different."

You are a hoot. You ever heard of SWSDS ? Slick Willard Supporter Derangement Syndrome ? It's the habit of small-minded people to attack Conservatives in the most vilest of terms for merely telling the truth on their idol's record and mountain of lies. Get called anti-Mormon bigot, child molestor, pornographer, wife beater, psychotic, et al. You guys ARE the same as the BDS bots. Same vile hate of anything Conservative, spew the same lies and insults. Disgusting

"Bottom line it was the antics of you, others on FR like you and your fellow travelers in the general electorate who share your beliefs that got us John McCain."

Juan was bad, Slick Willard was worse. Both were inexcusable for the GOP to be standard-bearers. Nothing but liberal losers with monumental egos ran for President, all except for Fred. But, oh no, couldn't have Fred. Had to have the Myth, that fraud, that phony, that loser punk. Don't blame me, ace. I supported Fred. So did this website. I submit it is YOU that gave us Juan, because you didn't want to support a Conservative like Fred. Only a Socialist Myth would do for you. I hope YOU are happy. I think you are. The False Messiah is enacting Myth's agenda.

"Had you been half as ardent in your attacks on the Democrats as you were on the Republican candidates during the primary we might not have ended up with McCain and by extension 4 years or more of Barack Hussien OBama."

I did attack the Democrat. His name was Slick Willard. The fraud you worship with absolute unbridled fervence. Only that Democrat tried to hijack the GOP nomination. Thank heavens we stopped him before he could get control and exterminate what is left of the Republican party.

Meanwhile, I'm curious, does anyone here take Glen Beck seriously? How could anyone switch from Catholicism to mormonism with a straight face?

What are you saying here? That Glen Beck converted to Mormonism from Catholicism and that makes his issues and opinions null & void, now?

You don’t want facts. You never did, and don’t insult my intelligence by claiming otherwise. You continually ignore the mountain of facts presented, the same facts that have been presented for 2 straight years since “it” declared for the Presidency. We present them and you retort “I want facts.” You’ve been given them. You want to believe the Myth. Don’t expect the rest of us to disregard the facts and worship at the throne of a Socialist con-man.

I do know Reagan’s story. Very well in fact. I wouldn’t call Reagan a “Fiscal Conservative”. He spent lots of taxpayers money, and spent lots of future taxpayers money. I know very well his argument for deficit spend, and supported it then and now. It’s one time in history that I supported the liberal idea of spending money you don’t have.

But why don’t you enlighten us and tell us how deficit spending taxpayer money is the “fiscal conservative” way... seein`s I know so little.
