Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here)

I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.

I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.

Please give the location and number of participants.

I'll go first:

Melbourne, FL - 1000.

OK, sorry, I didn’t go to the last page and see your list. But definitely change Richardson from 300 (no way—there were a LOT more than that at the peak of attendance) to 600 at least. The party organizer estimated 600 (but I’m still sticking with my 1000)

I was a speaker at the College Station, Texas Tea Party in Veterans Park. The local TV station said 300 attended, the organizers said 800-1000. I thought, from the podium, that it was easily a thousand. For example, the tables in the pavilion seat 300. They were full, with people lined up along the walls on the inside, and standing on the hill overlooking the pavilion. Easily much more than the TV estimate:

I didn't attempt a count for the Prince William County Tea Party. To comply with your request I made a panoramic view from my photos. My guess is that there were between 300 to possibly 400 people attending. I could double that were I to count the support from drivers and passengers passing by.

Yes, I heard the news say 5,000 for Oceanside, and friends tell me 3,000 for Escondido, and we had approx 1,500 at the Rancho Penasquitos Post Office (Poway). We all started out at the post office and then began walking toward the intersection by all the stores. Soon there were 10-15 deep at the corners and the crowd lined the street going all the way up (on both sides) the hill, to the post office!

Congressman Heller was a hoot! He was laughing and joking, talking to the people, answering questions, giving autographs and taking pictues with people (I got my picture taken with him :)

New York City easily had 15,000 people. How do I know this? Because as one of the Freepers who organized the pro troop rally in 03 in Times square we easily had a head count which the media acknowledged was over 5000, really closer to 7,000. The crowd at the tea party was easily twice as big as that one, and I am being generous on the down side.

Glad to help on the Maryland sites. I see you've got two entries for the Westminster folks, so your total includes some double-counting.

I also see that my own hometown of Rockville has the lowest reported turnout in the nation so far. The rain and wind took its toll on our signs, our hats, and even our umbrellas. I thought our dismal weather was a perfect metaphor for the course our elected leaders have been taking.
