Dinosaur Blood Protein, Cells Recovered

(see article link for picture links!)

April 30, 2009 — It’s official: soft tissue, including blood vessel proteins and structures resembling cells, have been recovered from dinosaur bone. Mary Schweitzer’s amazing claim in 2005 (03/24/2005) was subsequently disputed as possible contamination from biofilms (07/30/2008). Now, Schweitzer and her team took exceptional precautions to avoid contamination by excavating hadrosaur bone from sandstone said to be 80 million years old. A short description of her findings, and a picture of the tissue, was announced today by New Scientist. The paper was published in the May 1 issue of Science.[1] Read the press release from Schweitzer’s institution, North Carolina State University, which says that the preservation of soft tissue in this duck-billed dinosaur fossil was even better than the material from the T. rex sample analyzed in 2005.

Robert F. Service commented on the finding in the same issue of Science...

Ok, very interesting... not being of scientific bent, thouh I wish I were, these things intreague me. First because I am in awe of life, the universe and the Creator Mind behind it all, and second because I believe our Creator God so inteded these things to not be easy to answer but that they can be discovered given enough earnest effort in searching out the truth. Evolution is debunked right off the bat, but young earthers have much to sift through in trying to show that the earth is only 6 to 10 thousand years old. It’s going to take more than a theoretical postulation that only serves to back up one’s belief in a young earth to convince the non-believer when there is hard evidence that the universe and the earth are ancient. Not that I couldn’t believe in a young earth, but from all that I’ve learned so far, I am becoming convinced of an ancient world. And for me, that is not disturbing, considering that the Creator is eternal, and that perhaps this earth has been the focal point of many of God’s ancient creative acts. While I’m not yet convinced of the Gap Theory or the Day Age Theory, I do grasp their relevance in the discussion.

The Chinese love Dinosaur bones. There are villagers who actually use them as delicacies.

See here :

http://www.physorg.com/news102762937.html

Chinese Villagers Eat Dinosaur Bones

Villagers in central China dug up a ton of dinosaur bones and boiled them in soup or ground them into powder for traditional medicine, believing they were from flying dragons and had healing powers.

Parts of the 18-meter dinosaur were dug up and eaten by locals as traditional medicine, scientists said Tuesday. The dinosaur bones, and a mockup of a full size dinosaur were displayed for the first time Tuesday.

I posted that material about Schweitzer a while back, and the response was basically that she was suffering from some kind of Stockholm Syndrome that prevents her from realizing the meaning of her own work. Once again we have this paradox where someone defies the Temple of Darwin enough to do what you’d think would be a forbidden experiment, yet so in thrall that she cannot understand her own results. Once again we see creationists rushing to embrace a fragment of scientific result while simultaneously sneering at the rest of the field. On this one tiny point, Schweitzer is a genius; about everything else, she’s a fool.

Biblical "literalism" at work.

Meaning? After all for the Christian evolutionists Christ did say I have foretold you all things. And that it is NOT given for all to understand. And that some would model another way even using His name...

Meaning that Biblical “literalism” is more accurately described as the “literal invention” of stuff that doesn’t appear in the Bible.

obviously you DIDNT READ IT

The answer - they DON”T KNOW HOW - THEY ARE IN THE “searching for alternate explanation stage” A direct quote from the paper is found below

The structures may be the result of an as yet unidentified abiotic or geomicrobiological process that could explain their presence in thousand- to million-year-old fossil remains.

what he study confirmed was that preservation of non-minerealized remains has occurred in serveral verifiable instances....this in no way says WHY something is preserved for a supposed 80 million years (see above comment from paper)

And the last resort of when losing an argument is to accusations and slander - your statement of “creationist misrepresentations” -— what have I misrepresented? And from who?

Ummmm....no....it's not.....in ANY manner.

It's evidence that, under the correct conditions, proteins from living things can survive for millions of years.....nothing more.

How do you figure Adam escaped the wrath of T-Rex?

Oh brother. So how does this actually help your apparent "young-earth-with-dinos-in-the-village-square" hypothesis. Because the preservation process here hasn't been concretely identified, then all dating methodologies (along with the balance of paleontology) must be false? Is that it?

Fine. Now exactly what does Genesis 1:2 say that makes your accusation relevant?

The more pertinent question is - what does Genesis 1:2 say about dinosaurs getting wiped out?

I am the one saying that there is NO explanation for HOW you can get 80 M year old blood and tissue to survive.

The paper says likewise - there is NOT current theory on how it could survive 80 million years.

So it’s up to the people who BELIEVE it’s 80 M years old to provide an explanation as to HOW it can survive for that long.
