Morality and the Irrationality of an Evolutionary Worldview

by Dr. Georgia Purdom and Dr. Jason Lisle

May 13, 2009

Morality is a very difficult problem for the evolutionary worldview. This is not to say that evolutionists are somehow less moral than biblical creationists—or anyone else. Most evolutionists adhere to a moral code and believe in the concept of right and wrong. But evolutionists have no rational reason for this position. Thus, only creationists have a rational, logical, and consistent reason for morality...

No, all your post consists of is a rather infantile guilt by association diatribe against religion and a direct equivalency between religion and pedophilia.

As wrong and disgustingly obtuse as those cretinous Creationists who insist that anyone who has confidence in the theory of evolution is an atheist, Communist, Nazi.

Which was prefaced by “You want to sink to that level, fine.”

Perhaps I should have added, “and now so shall I”? I thought this was rather obvious, but maybe not.

while i believe you went a bit far, pox, your points remain mostly valid.
religion, all of them, have been plagued by those who use it as a means of gain through the suffering of others.
the moral high ground is but a dune about to be swallowed by the incoming tide.

Where is your documentation for your transparently ignorant claims? Put up or shut up.

There is never a reason to be moral, not even with belief in a moral God. One can only be motivated by conscience and the holy spirit.

That's what always seems weird to me about arguments like the one in this article. The only "rational" reason to behave morally is fear of punishment. A believer may choose to behave morally out of love of God, or guilt, or other impulses, but those aren't rational. (Which is not to say they're bad.) In terms of the rational weighing of pros and cons, the only motive is avoiding punishment. So it always sounds to me like the writer is admitting that they only reason they behave morally is so that God doesn't punish them, which doesn't strike me as a very deep moral sense at all.

I demonstrate that the biggest mass murderers in history were all revolutionary materialists. I then demonstrate that the terrorist group with the most number of suicide bombings under its belt is revolutionary materialist. And I even show you that the greatest number of suicide bombers in Lebanon come from secular socialist and communist groups. And yet you have the audacity to maintain that religious people have killed ten times more than they! And all based on ZERO documentation. Talk about burying your head in the sand!

"In 1956, The Peoples Temple was founded in Indianapolis as an integrated church combining evangelical, enthusiastic religion and loosely socialist politics."

Loosely socialist my ass! It was an off-shoot of a false church that was nothing but a communist cell with the misleading "Christian" name hung on it for cover. The Disciples of Christ is a radical leftist group that has managed to fool a few real christians here and there, but they do not worship Christ, in fact they have been known to hang the "peace" symbol in their "churches." The peace symbol is nothing but an inverted, broken cross, symbolizing the defeat of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Don’t confuse them with real world facts- it upsets their deeply ingrained loathign of Christians, and makes em all woozy and lightheaded

Indeed, you are absolutely correct.

The Peoples Temples God was Communism.

Their last act they called “revolutionary suicide”, the language of a Communist Leftist, not “martyrdom”.

“Sure we do...God is the author of our rationality, whereas the author of the Evos logic is random processes plus differential survival.”

That’s not the origin of logic, that’s the origin of species.

“Actually, the greatest period of Science, has been during the height of the church, as the church was never opposed to science, despite the false claims of some haters. The TRUTH will Lead to God, as God is truth.

Before that, the atheist of the day killed every scientist he didn’t like, As we see developing to day the ‘evolution theorists’ (that’s not even science) want to control whats considered ‘science’ today, what direction studies should go, (ie it must support evolution) when their “science” in merely a belief, a RELIGION itself.”

What time period are you talking about? If you’re talking about the 17th and 18th century, that was during the Enlightenment when many were actually predicting that Christianity was about to die - it was hardly christianity’s hey day. And before then atheists were hardly killing anyone - they were getting killed as it was ILLEGAL to be atheist (it was heresy which was punished with torture and death).

Thus, only creationists have a rational, logical, and consistent reason for morality.

This is a ridiculous conclusion and the article does not come close to supporting the premise.

Jim Jones, the founder and pastor of the church...

was in such apostasy and rebellion against God, that Jim Jones made his followers use the Bible pages for toilet paper.

Jim Jones was recognized as a Bible-rejecting heretic long before you heard about him. He was a religious liberal who sat in judgment over the Bible, just like any liberal.

Instead of siding with the conservative Christians who were telling the truth about Jones' heresy, the liberals and other Bible-haters tried instead to use that opportunity to label the conservative Christians as being intolerant and narrow.

The liberals and pathetic anti-Christian opportunists still have rotten egg on their faces.

Bad religion is just that, no better than the nonsense spewed by any Biblically-ignorant Free Republic liberal or any other DU clone.

Only an ignorant liberal, blinded by their hatred for truth, would ever confuse him with someone who believed the Bible.
