Fort Hood soldier describes horrific scene to family in Utah (Shooter shouted Allah Akbar)
KSL television ^ | October 5, 2009

Posted on 11/05/2009 9:45:02 PM PST by lady lawyer

The news of the mass shooting at Fort Hood Thursday hit close to home for some Utahns. One man says his daughter heard the shooter exclaim "Allah Akbar" as he opened fire.

We want to stress that no government or military officials are reporting that and there is no way for us to independently confirm that it is true.

The family from northern Utah agreed to talk to us, on the condition we not identify them and blur out some photos they've supplied, because they're worried their daughter could get in trouble with her superiors for making public what she told her family she saw.

The soldier's father says his daughter was at Fort Hood Thursday when the shooting happened, and she called him, frantic and upset, soon after.

"She said, ‘Dad, I'm OK. Don't worry, I'm OK.' And initially I said, ‘What are you talking about?' She said, ‘Haven't you heard?' And I said, ‘No.' And she said, ‘We've been attacked by terrorists,'" the father explained.

He told KSL News soldiers were sitting in a staging area for medical and dental checks when the group was startled by gunfire.

"A person behind counter stood up, and he said, ‘Allah Akbar!' And just opened up on everybody," the father told us.

I hate how the media is spinning this to be about a guy just so stressed out by his horror of war that he went completely against character and shot all those people.

No one is buying that trash. We all know what this was. The Muslim apologists all look like the fools they are. Expect gun and ammunition sales to soar even higher.

"This guy wanted to be a martyr for jihad..I am glad he is alive..that is what he wanted, he wanted to die, so that he could be a martyr, and he failed..now he has to pay for his crimes."

Oh, he'll be dead, but this gives us the opportunity to make sure that he dies by being choked to death with a piece of pork, and buried wrapped in pigskin.

Can someone tell me what Allah Akbar means? I’ve heard the phrase, just don’t know what it means in English

"Allah Akhbar" = "It's Bush's fault"

“If he survived, I hope they hang this bastard!”

No, you are looking at it the wrong way. He was probably was abused by his father and cannot be held responsible for anything he did (or does).

We must be sensitive to his needs. </>sarc.

Yes, dont feel bad about it given the context of what has just happened and has happened in the past. As long as it wasn’t a religious comment on the board.

If the sub had written hello and goodbye in French or Gaelic we probably wouldn’t find it alarming, unless of course those people were doing horrific murders.

So you can feel that way, but don’t let those feelings get too much of a hold on you in the case of a sub writing hi and goodbye on the board in arabic.

"...their daughter could get in trouble with her superiors for making public what she told her family she saw."

“Are you an emissary of the SRM?”

I have no idea what SRM is? My ignorance shows, sorry.

And I have NO sympathy for Hasan. I did not use the word “harassed”, but heckled was probably a bad choice of word.

It is very odd and disturbing how public statements by post officials have changed totally during this. Not at all like the mater-of-fact treatment normally seen in the military. And this is Ft. Hood.

"The Texas Rangers need to turn the mosque inside out."

Since the shooter didn't use military issue. I hope they're able to trace where he obtained the guns and ammo. I hope they can find out where he stored his weapons.

Too bad there's no grounds for a search warrant of the mosque. Mosques are springing up like mushrooms all across the country. I have no doubt the construction of these elaborate Taj Mahals are financed in part by overseas Muslim oil money.

It's interesting to speculate on the fact that our military has its armories, the sect that is Islam has its mosques.....now increasingly dotting the country, circular, secretive and built like brick fortresses.

The takbīr or takbeer (تَكْبِير) is the Arabic name for the phrase Allāhu Akbar, الله أكبر. Usually translated "God is great" or "God is [the] greatest," it is a common Arabic expression and is used as both an informal expression of faith and as a formal declaration.

I actually thought if I was teaching, I would not have said that I am part Italaian and write Ciao on the board. Thanks for talking me off the ledge, but I am still going to go in and “meet” the teacher.
Good advice from all. Thanks.

Make sure you talk to the principal. I am a substitute and believe me, if word gets around that this particular sub wasn’t a good one, he/she will not be asked back to the campus.

I will w/out making waves. Just putting it on the radar. Obviously they spent quite a bit of time doing this. I wanted to make sure I had the facts, not only can he say it, but he spelled it for me so I could “google” it. It may have just been an ice breaker since he is there for 10 days.

Ft. Bragg in North Carolina has many Muslims in the surrounding area too. I would go shopping there and see many women dressed in Muslim attire.

"That obviously didn't stop his promotion (which I've read are automatic for doctors, no matter what their disciplinary record), or his assignment to Iraq."

I didn't see the report of him proselytizing, it's interesting if true - and troubling. There have been some high-profile cases of proselytizing the last several years. Of course, those cases all had to do with Christian proselytizing, so naturally, in the world of political correctness, that's worse. I should add, that I'm not aware of any of these cases resulting in a court-martial for violating Article 92. The worst that has happened is an administrative separation.

Lastly, most physicians enter service as a Captain, unlike other officers who enter service as 2ndLts. That first promotion for Doctors, from Captain to Major, is a virtual guarantee. While there is a promotion board, and the candidate does have to have the specified time-in-grade, 98% of eligible candidates are promoted to the rank of Major/LCDR. There is that 2% that doesn't make it, but those are the ones that have faced some actual disciplinary procedure, and not just a mediocre annual EVAL.

Even the promotion to 0-5 is at a rate of over 60% - which is well higher than it is for line officers.
