PELOSI: Buy a $15,000 Policy or Go to Jail

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

“If the government determines that the taxpayer’s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply…” [page 2]

“Criminal penalties

Not only will I NOT take part of their rotten health plan, they will lose my revenue and I’ll stop filing and paying my taxes all together.

They can kiss my lily white behind.

The damn democrat party wonders why millions of Americans refer to as National Socialists.

To throw individual Americans into prisons for disobeying totalitarian/socialist bullsh!t, is to go the way of the damn Gestapo.

...And Pelosi and the rest of the mental patients in the democrat party appear to want it this way:

The Gestapo vs. the free-spirited individual American citizens.

I dont think Pelosi and anybody who votes for this understand the danger they are putting themselves into. Im not going to comment further than that and let others speculate. I carefully choose my words and generalize.

Great idea. A lot of us are going to be singing the great country song that runs like this:

Sleepin' with my butt to the wall
Wishin' my lawyer would call...

Curious how this would effect illegal aliens? Or not.

So all American citizens must buy insurance, pay a fine based on their tax return, or go to jail.

But an illegal alien, who doesn't have a high school degree and gets paid in cash as a subcontractor, or operates their own cleaning or lawn service, who has no withholding for social security, Medicare, Medicaid, medical, or retirement, who doesn't even file a tax return, he shows up at an emergency room and still gets free medical care.

These illegals are making a killing.

Will hospitals be required to report people who show up without medical insurance? Of course not. Because if the Feds starting checking things like this out, then they would be able to find lots of illegals. Pelosi and Obama will never allow that.

If amnesty passes, will the federal government fine and put former illegals in jail for refusing to purchase medical insurance? Of course not. They'll be allowed in the public option and receive a medical subsidy for allegedly being poor.

Let me put it this way...

I can’t afford a $15,000 policy the government will demand. I’m lucky if I make that much a year.

I can’t afford insurance now and my employer doesn’t offer it, even at 40 hours a week.

Now, under this plan ...I am still not qualified to receive government health insurance. Why not you ask? I have over the set nominal amount in savings, I own my home, and I am single.

My current insurance is catastrophic only. This plan makes it illegal for me to negotiate routine care prices with my general pratictioner.

I am in between being able to have government healthcare and being able to meet their demands. I will get fined some nominal amount, but it doesn’t get me government insurance(contrary to what some previous posters claim).

So under this plan, I risk, no will, go to jail.

Freedom apparently has been dropped from the American Constitution.
