Glenn Beck on birther issue: 'Dumbest thing I've ever heard'
World Net Daily ^ | 01/04/2009 | Drew Zahn

Posted on 01/05/2010 1:52:27 PM PST by autumnraine

On the air today, popular radio host Glenn Beck mocked "birthers" and claimed there is a concerted campaign to get those questioning Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility onto the airwaves – a strategy Beck said would actually benefit Obama.

"There's always games being played behind the scenes at a talk radio show," Beck said. "Rush has always called them seminar callers. But instead of being coy with the seminar callers or with you, I'm just going to expose the game that is going on. Today there is a concerted effort on all radio stations to get birthers on the air."

"I have to tell you, are you working for the Barack Obama administration?" Beck scoffed. "I mean, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

The ongoing dialogue then spun off into ridicule as Beck caricatured those who question the sitting president's eligibility with straw-man arguments reminiscent of jibes made by Obama's apologists in other news outlets.

Beck defined birthers as people who believe Obama was born in Kenya or other foreign country, was raised as a Manchurian candidate and somehow brainwashed Hillary Clinton into not exposing his fraud. According to Beck's running joke, birthers believe someone – maybe Obama's KGB "control" – preemptively placed Obama's birth announcement in 1961 Hawaiian newspapers with a "roadmap" of getting an African man into office.

As for Obama producing a long-form birth certificate to actually prove his place of birth, Beck questioned, "Why do that when these people ['birthers'] are so discrediting themselves?"

Get the must-wear clothing item for 2010! "Where's the birth certificate" T-shirt!

The radio host further argued that by distracting the public from actionable issues, "birthers" have become "a dream come true" for Obama, an ideal situation akin to the fantasies of adolescent boys after Hollywood bombshells.

Yes the birth issue has to do with something other than where he was born. He was either born in Hawaii or someone from the future went back in time and placed a birth announcement in the paper.

BTW how was he born in a hospital that did not have a maternity ward until several years after his alleged birth date?

I haven't heard that one. Wasn't there a set of twins born a day or so after BO, at the hospital where he claims to have been born? If so, there must have been a maternity ward there.

I still believe it has to do with his paternity ... the name ‘Frank Marshall Davis’ keeps coming up.

Unlikely. It is pretty well conceded that Obama Sr. and Mom went thru a marriage ceremony 6 months before the birth. In all states, AFAIK, a child born to a married couple is legally the offspring of the husband. Actual biological sperm-donor irrelevant. I can think of no reason a BC would list another man as the father of the child of a married woman.

Of course, since Sr. was already married in Kenya to one or more women, the marriage wasn't really valid under Hawaii law. But there is no reason at all to believe Mom or the State knew this at the time.

Anyway, since Davis was a US citizen, his being the bio-dad would do nothing to affect Obama's elibibility to be president.

I have so far seen no logical explanation for what seems to be Obama's determination not to release the original documentation of his birth. Whatever it is, I doubt it affects his constitutional eligibility to be president.

FWIW, I agree with Beck that the whole birther controversy has so far been a political boon to Obama. Quite probably is shouldn't be, but that does appear to be how it's playing in the public perception.

re: Sometimes Occam’s Razor needs to be applied ... this is one of those times

Indeed it is! And the fact he has fought so hard to hide so much Occam’s Razor tells us there’s something really big being hidden.

There is simply no other explanation.

This is one of the very few things on which Glenn and I disagree. After watching us eat our own and destroy our chances at winning a lot of times I’ve decided to give anyone at least a single thing on which we disagree before I write them off and label them RINO or whatever. In Glenn’s case I would have to make it several things.

In the case of Sarah P. it’s a dozen or more!

I am trying very hard these days to find those areas in which I agree with someone who has good ideas and strengths but with whom I can’t agree every time. Newt goes on that list.

IMHO, it’s not to my advantage to deny myself the benefit of something because I can’t have it all.

“Glenn is picking his battles wisely, and he has enough sense to realize that the birther issue is quixotic at best”

It may be, but then GB should just leave it alone. He doesn’t need to “pick” this battle at all. Why would he go out of his way to ridicule birthers who probably make up a sizable portion of his audience? Sounds like a really bad move to me.

It’s foolish to think that Zero was born in Kenya ... that dog don’t hunt, and it gives him ammo to paint his opponents as kooks. But the question remains: what the hell is he hiding? I still believe it has to do with his paternity ... the name ‘Frank Marshall Davis’ keeps coming up.

It's foolish to think that someone else other than Barack Obama Sr was Barack Obama's father ... that dog don't hunt.

He has said and written that Barack Obama Senior, the Kenyan national and non-American citizen, was his father, and he should know since he has the original birth certificate in his possession. That is an uncontestable fact that all the speculation in the world cannot negate -- no matter now many corpses they choose to dig up or how many birth certificates they choose to forge to the contrary.

Furthermore his apologists and handlers cite the Factcheck birth certification document as accurate and that document shows that he is indeed the son of Barack Obama Senior -- all of which, according to the evidence put forward by their side, proves beyond a doubt that Obama, son of a foreign Kenyan national, is not a natural born citizen and is thus a usurper in the Oval Office.

That actually triggers a thought in my head that I hadn’t considered before, though I presume it’s been discussed somewhere. If that’s on his BC, then he’d be regarded as an apostate from day one (to anyone who gives credibility to his stated Christian faith), which would not only put him the crosshairs of the jihadists, but might also render him even more impotent (if such is possible) in any dealings with Muslim leaders. That’d in itself be a motivation for him to keep the document sealed.

Beck's star really crashed quickly. I hadn't watched much during December because I thought after bringing something new almost every day he had nothing left to say. But I decided to tune in yesterday because I thought he might ridicule the great Obama Administration regarding the Christmas Bomber in his signature way. Instead he just rehashed old show and old quotes from several months ago.

Guys like Beck and Limbaugh may think that discussing the eligibility issue might cause Obama & Co. to go nuclear in some way that would threaten them, and so they avoid it to avoid a confrontation which might damage them. But anyone who thinks the eligibility issue isn't real isn't playing with a full deck.

Glenn Beck really makes me mad sometimes but on this issue, HE IS RIGHT ON!!!!!!

I think secretly the birthers are liberals just trying to give conservatives a bad name.

I agree- he is hiding something. You need to be certifiably brain dead to not get that.

I also agree that he is setting up the fringe to look foolish by hoping that they cling to a theory which he can debunk. Then that will become the story regardless of whether or not the truth is ever revealed.

Still- what is he hiding? You just don’t spend a million bux for nuthin.

Beck is 100% correct. The birthers look like fools and the media uses them to make Conservatives look like them. Thye are almost like the conspiracy's people that think the Government was behind 9/11.

Beck is right on the money about Hillary. If there was one shred of evidence that Obama was born in Kenya you know the Clinton's would have exposed it. In addition; with a Republican Governor in HI it would have been exposed a long time ago.

FWIW, Beck is not necessarily a coward for saying what he did.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility he believes exactly what he says. Which might make him mistaken, but not necessarily a coward.

I believe it is commonly a liberal tactic to denounce all who disagree as traitors, or cowards, or liars, or butt-kissers.

Sometimes people sincerely disagree. I suggest they should be given the benefit of the doubt until it can be proven they arrived at their opinion via dishonorable motives.

At the time he said that he obviously he hadn't had a chance to read the posts to this thread.

Agreed. Need to pick our battles, and while this a a valid fight, there are much bigger ones out there. The Left will succeed in turning this into a time consuming side show while they’re busy cramming Socialism down our throats in other ways.

You were saying ...

Indeed it is! And the fact he has fought so hard to hide so much Occam’s Razor tells us there’s something really big being hidden.

I know something bigger that has been hidden by our own officials for a very long time now -- and quite an elaborate conspiracy too... quite amazing... [if you really believe it ... LOL...]

The Crash of the Flying Saucer at Roswell...

Now there's one to apply Occam's Razor to... LOL...

“”trying to get Obama out by challenging his citizenship is probably not worth the investment in time and energy.””

Trying to get the truth out and upholding the Constitution takes to long and is too hard.
