A sudden new twist in the ongoing rhetorical and legal struggle over Arizona's tough new law to round up illegal immigrants.
Late Friday night as the Memorial Day weekend began, Arizona's Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, in effect, suspended the state's Democratic attorney general from defending the new law in upcoming legal challenges.

I assume the dem lawyer was going to defend it in a weak way so they would lose on purpose. Nice move to remove the dem!
In a way, this helps Goddard. If he succesfully defended the law, it would hurt his fundraising efforts for his gubernatorial run. If he unsuccessfully defended it, it would lose him votes.
Not a resume enhancer for the lawyer.
Terry Goddard would have thrown the case. He's running against her in November.
Good move, and it took guts to do it.
Jan's got more guts then the entire posturing RNC combined.
Nobody trusts Goddard to defend the state. This does nothing for or against Goddard, but it does insure that the state will have a strong defender instead of a party hack.
Those of us who lived under his father's weak governorship remember what a bunch of weasels the Goddard family are.
This governor is playing hard ball. Good for her.
AZ is unified in its fight against the illegal immigration problem. I don’t see how a successful defense would hurt him politically unless you’re anticipating the out of state support would be jeopardized.
Brewer, Christie etc...we need more like these two. Hey all you Governors out there...STAND UP FOR YOUR STATE!!!
This governor seems like a real fighter. I’d like to see more of the sheriffs, mayors, and chiefs stand up in support.
I think she’s very brave and honorable woman. Arizona is lucky to have her assume the governorship.
Goddard said many times he did not want to defend the law. He’s running for Governor, and it’s a campaign issue for him. Brewer did what she had to do.

Yes, that is what I’m referring to.
Goddard has always swung this way. He was a wuss as mayor of Phoenix and he’s still a wuss.
Brewer done good.
Goddard was conspiring with Holder & Co. to throw the case, I’m sure of it.
Most Excellent! Jan Brewer is a role model for women in politics - don’t take no guff!

I wish we had a Brewer or a Christie on the ballot here in CA. I’m voting for Poizner in the primary only because I find him less distateful than Whitman.
Palin/Brewer 2012
Janet Napolitano resigned to accept the man-caused nomination of Homeland Security secretaryOh brother, I'm so sick of this kind of shit!
