Military members who have a problem with a change in policy to allow gays to serve openly may find themselves looking for a new job, Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned Thursday.
Mullen told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that the military is based on meritocracy, "what you do, not who you are." He said if Congress changes the don't ask, don't tell policy then the U.S. military will comply.

In the scandal involving the theft and release of classified military information that could cost the lives of U.S. military personnel, the British Telegraph newspaper is reporting that the American soldier at the center of the scandal was “openly homosexual” and apparently held a grudge against the U.S. because of the military’s anti-gay policy.
In another bizarre twist, reliable reports suggest that Private First Class Bradley Manning, the U.S. Army Intelligence analyst accused of leaking the classified information to the WikiLeaks.org website, was not only a homosexual but was considering a sex change.

lol. we are not that big. We have a total of 1.44 million in the armed services together. They want to make the Air Force and Navy smaller that what it is today and this is a great way for them to get folks out of the service without paying them severance pay. The way it is today, they are giving a lot of money to folks who are being told to go home and they are getting money to leave. With this process, people will volunteer to leave and the military will not have to pay them. They are not stupid!
How is that possible? Your Fleet Reserve Certificate is signed by the president. I think you might have THOUGHT you refused to get a certificate signed by the President of the United States. lol. During your ceremony, they might have taped over the signature or something but trust me you got Billy’s signature on some part of your certificates.

Yes, and that’s exactly the problem. “Being” homosexual is one thing, but “doing” homosexual is an entirely different thing. And that’s why DADT works. It’s when the person’s homosexuality becomes the focus of their life and demand acceptance of what they do, if not approval, the problems start.
For those gays who really wanted to do was be in the military and serve his or her country DADT works just fine.
I have one son on pre-deployment orders and one already enlisted but can’t get to basic until after he graduates HS, but he is already sworn in.
My oldest is a new person since being in the Army, and my middle son is so excited to go in on an Airborne contract. I hate that they have to deal with all of this PC nonsense, it never ends!!
That is what my son says. He says there is no way they would survive it mentally as an open homosexual.

I am not sure about that. She is against gay marriage but she said she has some gay friends that she hangs with so I am not 100 percent sure that she would ask for his resignation unless things are so bad in the military because of this.
Its up to us to push back, together in whatever form we can.....where does it make sense for the minorty top bowl the majority around? If it is the opinion of the majority, I am in the wrong place.
The greatness of the US was founded in the commonality that threads western civilization , Christianity...not the barnyard or Islam. We can be men or beasts o the field , its all a function of choice.
Interesting issue you raise: I represent people in security clearance revocation and denial cases. Will homosexual conduct no longer be a ground for denial or revocation? If it isn’t for avowed homosexuals, will it still be for closet homosexuals?
