Military members who have a problem with a change in policy to allow gays to serve openly may find themselves looking for a new job, Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned Thursday.
Mullen told a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that the military is based on meritocracy, "what you do, not who you are." He said if Congress changes the don't ask, don't tell policy then the U.S. military will comply.

As if combat troops are some adjunct, addon and afterthought to the concept of an army.

Mullen is a joke and I have two words for him - Major Hassan. How did this open jihadist get to be a major and why wasn’t he courtmartialed or cashiered when they knew what he was - because it was PC of the military not to take action against a ‘muslim’ just like they won’t take action when open homosexuals start misbehaving - no officer will want to risk being called a ‘homophobe’ and have his career killed. There will be blood eventually and it will be covered up like the Pentagon’s Hassan report that never mentioned his radical Islamic views.
So what are we to have Mr. Mullen? A Navy of flaming poofters spreading AIDs on the USS Loveboat?
Soldiers need to hold Mr Mullen to his word. Let the soldiers go freely that refuse to accept this policy.
When, after all this is implemented, our country falls into the hands of the true Communists and other assorted thugs they will face those consequences when the thugs come after them first.
Prayers indeed. Most of my lefty friends (yes yes, I know) just have such a totally different world view than I do it doesn’t do any good to talk to them, there is no convincing them. I’m sure they say the same things about me.
To these miscreants, their sex lives are everything. EVERYTHING. It is who they are and defines every aspect of their lives. Their lives revolve around their sex drive and preference. They seem to generally loathe themselves and are unfulfilled, needing to be the center of attention at all times; good or bad, attention is attention to them. They desperately want acceptance, but deep down know that what they do is not acceptable. So, they have chosen to take steps to forcefully legitimize their illegitimate lifestyle by seeking positions of power (such as becoming judges), positions in the entertainment business (money, power, and advertising), and heavy lobbying.
The homosexual agenda encompasses destroying all vestiges of the society that has shunned them, at any cost, and it is proceeding merrily along its way with the help of the "elites" who know just how badly it will weaken our nation. The military has long been in their cross-hairs. On the one hand, gays were able to lie and get into the military, playing covert games where the risk of being caught was exciting, like the rich girl who shoplifts. But, DADT made them keep their mouths shut while giving them what they said they wanted, so the game became less fun.
I was still in the Army when DADT was implemented. You should have heard the uproar. It was loudest in the combat arms, especially the infantry where I was. No soldier I knew would have served willingly with open gays in the Army. There was an exodus of soldiers at that time, but nothing like we will see if DADT is repealed and open gays are allowed in the service.

The sick freak pervert-loving Mullen is an offense not only to every member of the armed forces, but all veterans, all military families, and every normal US citizen. He's saying that any service member who doesn't like homosexuals in the military should quit. He wants to destroy the military. SICK FREAK! If the Repubs don't take strong action - no holds barred - whatever they can do to thwart this and all other leftsits agenda - when they convene in January, then they're as useless as teats on a boar.
This is a double pingout as the homosexual agenda pushers and pushers of other leftist agendas are making it more and more clear that their ultimate motivation is hatred of God and religion.

The question is will he let the active troops in Afghanistan leave right away ? I think they could have a problem if suddenly half the navy wanted out..

These words may, interestingly enough, come back to haunt Mullen and this entire federal government if the hardened combat troops of the military do, indeed, find other jobs, such as training and leading militias. I wonder how much he'd love his gay friends then. Veterans have been called upon to unseat corruption in the past, always successfully.

I earned my eagles, like most Navy O-6s I know. Your generalization is unfair.
To fail promotion to O-3, you'd have to have had sex with the skipper's daughter. To fail promotion to O-4, you were probably a poor leader or ineffective in your warfare specialty. To fail promotion to O-5, you probably did not deserve a shot at a department head billet. After that you had to be selected for command; only 10-25% are picked. Only 50 % of officers eligble select for O-6. If you do not, you probably gooned your command tour. Those not having a command do not get promoted in the line officer corps. In order to promote to Flag rank, one must have had a major command at sea and a bonus command. In this case, I will agree with you. Someone on the Flag board must know you and sing your praises.
I guess the Air Force runs their service differently. After all, they get money to build the golf course and officer's club, then ask for more for the runways, right?

Was segregation the LAW, or just something the military did? If segregation wasn’t an actual legal requirement - but wasn’t prohibited - then executive order was a correct mechanism for its disestablishment.
